THE MISSION OF THE BRAIN INJURY ALLIANCE OF CONNECTICUT IS TO BE CONNECTICUT'S PARTNER IN BRAIN INJURY PREVENTION AND RECOVERY.
To be Connecticut's partner in brain injury prevention and recovery.
Community Education and Outreach: Over 600 people were recipients of education, training & outreach throughout the year. Trainings and presentations included the following topic areas: (1) introduction to brain injury for professionals,including concussion and return to learn and play protocols (2)introduction to concussion for parents and general public, including return to learn and play protocols (3)BIAC as a community partner and resource in prevention and recovery (4)Intersection of brain injury with domestic violence (5)Brain injury within the veteran population (6) Substance abuse and brain injury (6) Protect your brain an overview of the BIAC injury prevention toolkit for school professionals
Brain injury services: helpline - Brain Injury Specialists (BIS) responded to 908 calls and emails via the helpline throughout the 2019-2020 year. Considering the challenges of working remotely, staff was able to respond to most callers in timely manner, with 73% of new inquires receiving a response and connecting with a BIS live or on the same day of contact. Of the 908 contacts, 182 were new callers/inquires reaching out to our helpline service (20%).
Brain Injury Navigator: This is a fee-based service that provides customized, in-depth and personal direction from an expert in brain injury, helping those impacted by brain injury find their way back to a life that brings meaning and joy, and the triumph of moving forward. This service is designed for those who need a more individualized, intensive level of support than our Helpline can provide and are not able to access state services.
