Organizations Filed Purposes: ACTIONAID USA'S MISSION IS TO ACHIEVE SOCIAL JUSTICE, GENDER EQUALITY, AND POVERTY ERADICATION BY WORKING WITH PEOPLE LIVING IN POVERTY AND EXCLUSION, THEIR COMMUNITIES, PEOPLE'S ORGANIZATIONS, ACTIVISTS, SOCIAL MOVEMENTS, AND SUPPORTERS.

ACTIONAID IS AN INTERNATIONAL NETWORK BUILDING A JUST, EQUITABLE, AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD IN SOLIDARITY WITH COMMUNITIES ON THE FRONTLINES OF POVERTY AND INJUSTICE.

WOMEN'S RIGHTS: IN MAY 2019, WE LAUNCHED A NEW GLOBAL CAMPAIGN CALLED WOMEN WORKERS, UNITE! IN AN EFFORT TO BUILD SOLIDARITY WITH WOMEN WORKERS AND TO CALL FOR AN END TO GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE. IN JUNE 2019 WE JOINED ACTIONAID STAFF ACROSS THE WORLD TO PRESSURE THE INTERNATIONAL LABOR ORGANIZATION (ILO) TO ADOPT THE FIRST-EVER INTERNATIONAL LAW TO END GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE. WE PARTICIPATED BY ENCOURAGING OUR SUPPORTERS TO SIGN A PLEDGE SUPPORTING THE ADOPTION OF AN EFFECTIVE ILO CONVENTION AND RECOMMENDATION ON ENDING VIOLENCE AND HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE. IN 2019 WE CONTINUED TO PARTNER WITH LOCAL WOMEN'S ORGANIZATIONS AND NETWORKS IN COUNTRIES WHERE WE HAD AN ACTIVE HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE, INCLUDING BUT NOT EXCLUSIVE TO: CYCLONE IDAI AND CYCLONE KENNETH IN MALAWI, MOZAMBIQUE, AND ZIMBABWE; ONGOING FOOD CRISES IN ZIMBABWE, ZAMBIA, MOAMBIQUE, MALAWI, ETHIOPIA, KENYA, SOMALILAND, AND UGANDA; AND THE ONGOING ROHINGYA REFUGEE CRISIS IN BANGLADESH.

FOOD & AGRICULTURE: WE SUPPORTED 50 U.S. NONGOVERNMENTAL GROUPS TO SIGN A LETTER CALLING U.S. AMBASSADOR KIP TOM TO END THE OBSTRUCTION ON AGROECOLOGY AT THE UNITED NATIONS. BUILDING ON YEARS OF EFFORTS TO PUT AGROECOLOGY ON THE AGENDA, WE SUCCESSFULLY MOVED THE COMMITTEE ON WORLD FOOD SECURITY (CFS), A HIGH-LEVEL FORUM ON GLOBAL FOOD SECURITY AND NUTRITION, TO START OFFICIAL NEGOTIATIONS ON POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR AGROECOLOGY. AS PART OF OUR ONGOING INVOLVEMENT WITH THE GLOBAL AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM (GAFSP), A GLOBAL AGRICULTURAL FUND, WE CONTINUED TO SHAPE EFFORTS TO IMPROVE FOOD SECURITY. AT THE 46TH MEETING OF THE CFS IN ROME, WE JOINED GAFSP'S STEERING COMMITTEE TO LAUNCH A NEW REPORT MAKING THE CASE FOR THE FUND'S REPLENISHMENT. TO SUPPORT THE LAUNCH, WE ALSO PRODUCED A DIGITAL TOOLKIT THAT GAFSP AND OTHER CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS COULD USE. WE PRODUCED A 4-MINUTE VIDEO PROVIDING AN OVERVIEW OF A GAFSP PROJECT IN THE GAMBIA THAT WAS WELL-RECEIVED BY THE GAFSP STEERING COMMITTEE AND FURTHER ESTABLISHED OUR CREDIBILITY AND EXPERTISE IN COMMUNICATING THE SUCCESS AND VIABILITY OF THE OVERALL PROGRAM.

LAND RIGHTS & BIOFUELS: IN OCTOBER 2019, WE ORGANIZED A 10-DAY SPEAKING TOUR FOR A PROMINENT LAND RIGHTS ACTIVIST FROM BRAZIL TO BUILD SUPPORT FOR OUR GLOBAL CAMPAIGN TO GET PENSIONS AND ENDOWMENTS OUT OF FARMLAND INVESTMENT. ACTIONAID IS A FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE CAMPAIGN. IN ADDITION TO EDUCATING COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND SPEAKING WITH CONGRESS AND WORLD BANK OFFICIALS ABOUT STOPPING LAND GRABS, OUR GUEST DELIVER 38,780 SIGNATURES TO TIAA, CALLING ON THEM TO STOP LAND GRABBING AND RESPECT HUMAN RIGHTS. AT COP25, WE SUPPORTED THE LAUNCH OF THE PRINCIPLES FOR A JUST TRANSITION IN AGRICULTURE, A KEY DOCUMENT THAT OUTLINES ACTIONAID'S POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MOVING AGRICULTURE AWAY FROM INDUSTRIALIZED APPROACHES AND TOWARDS A SYSTEM THAT BENEFITS BOTH FARMERS AND THE CLIMATE. WE DESIGNED AND DISTRIBUTED AN 8-PAGE POLICY BRIEF ON BIOENERGY WITH CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE (BECCS), EXPLAINING THAT THIS TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT CURB CLIMATE IMPACTS AND CONTRIBUTES TO THE NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF BIOFUEL PRODUCTION.
