The DC Chapter of AAP is dedicated to promoting the optimal health and development of children and adolescents of Washington, DC in partnership with their families and communities, and to support the pediatricians who care for them.

Adolescent Health: Continued work as the lead organization of a city-wide adolescent health working group, focusing on improving the health of adolescents in DC.
Early Childhood Development & Toxic Stress: Offered programming to increase provider/policymaker/community understanding of and ability to impact social determinants of health. As members of the Birth-to Three Policy Alliance and the Early Childhood Innovation Network , DC AAP partnered with Children's National Health System, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Children's Law Center, and others to 1) increase awareness and understanding of the impact of poverty and toxic stress on early brain development; 2) pilot screening tools, trainings and best practices in clinical settings in DC's most critical areas of need; and 3) develop and advocate for trauma-informed programs, policies and systems to address toxic stress in families and communities.
Immigrant Health: Convened an DC AAP Immigrant Health Committee to address the needs of recently arrived immigrant children and provide pediatricians with screening tools, best practices, etc. for treating immigrant patients.
