TO PROVIDE EDUCATION TO THOSE INVOLVED IN THE IMPORTING AND EXPORTING TRADE AND TO ADVOCATE FOR POLICIES TO FACILITATE INTERNATIONAL TRADE.
ADVOCACY: AAEI FULLY ENGAGES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE TRADE COMMUNITY, MADE UP OF U.S. IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS AND THE COMPANIES THAT SERVE THE TRADE. THE ASSOCIATION: MONITORS THE ACTIVITIES OF CONGRESS, THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH, AND FEDERAL COURT DECISIONS; PROPOSES LEGISLATION AND REGULATORY ACTIONS TO REDUCE ADMINISTRATIVE BURDENS AND IMPROVE TRANSPARENCY, EFFICIENCY AND PREDICTABILITY IN GOVERNMENT AGENCIES THAT REGULATE CROSS-BORDER TRADE; AND BRIEFS OR TESTIFIES BEFORE POLICYMAKERS, CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES, REGULATORY AGENCIES AND COURTS ON SUCH ISSUES AS SUPPLY CHAIN SECURITY, PRODUCT SAFETY AND ELIMINATION OF FOREIGN BARRIERS TO U.S. EXPORTS. AAEI BRINGS MEMBERS' VIEWS AND CONCERNS TO THE ATTENTION OF ADMINISTRATORS AND POLICY MAKERS VIA A FRAMEWORK OF ELEVEN STANDING ISSUE-ORIENTED COMMITTEES RANGING FROM SUPPLY CHAIN SECURITY, CUSTOMS AND EXPORT COMPLIANCE AND FACILITATION TO PRODUCT SAFETY.
EDUCATION/INFORMATION: EDUCATION OF ITS MEMBERS IS A PRIMARY MISSION OF AAEI. THIS IS FACILITATED THROUGH A VARIETY OF METHODS, RANGING FROM CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS WHICH PERMIT ON-SITE LEARNING AND NETWORKING TO A VARIETY OF FEE-BASED AND FREE E-LEARNING WEBINARS. THESE EVENTS PROVIDE ATTENDEES WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION ON TRADE POLICY, IMPORT AND EXPORT COMPLIANCE ISSUES, REGULATIONS AND PENDING LEGISLATION WHICH IMPACTS INTERNATIONAL TRADE.
ADVANCED COMMUNICATION: AAEI COMMUNICATES WITH ITS MEMBERS THROUGH A VARIETY OF CHANNELS. THE PRIMARY VEHICLE IS THE ALERT, AN E-MAIL HIGHLIGHTING RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND RELATED U.S. GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND COMMITTEES OF CONGRESS. INCLUDED ARE CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION DECISIONS, COURT OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE RULINGS, TECHNICAL AND LEGAL ARTICLES ON A VARIETY OF TRADE ISSUES, AND LINKS TO CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND HOT TOPICS. ADDITIONAL ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS BRIEF MEMBERS ON UPCOMING EVENTS, CONFERENCES AND WEEKLY ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES OF THE ASSOCIATION STAFF.
