Organizations Filed Purposes: AMERICA'S PROMISE ALLIANCE IS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND A NATIONWIDE MOVEMENT TO IMPROVE THE LIVES AND FUTURES OF AMERICA'S YOUTH. BY BRINGING TOGETHER HUNDREDS OF NATIONAL NONPROFITS, BUSINESSES, COMMUNITY AND CIVIC LEADERS, EDUCATORS, CITIZENS, AND YOUNG PEOPLE, THE ALLIANCE DOES WHAT NO SINGLE ORGANIZATION CAN DO ON ITS OWN: CATALYZE ACTION ON A SCALE THAT REACHES MILLIONS OF YOUNG PEOPLE. AMERICA'S PROMISE IS A NON-PARTISAN ORGANIZATION THAT IS GROUNDED IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE FIVE PROMISES -- CARING ADULTS, SAFE PLACES, A HEALTHY START, AN EFFECTIVE EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE.

THE WORK OF AMERICA'S PROMISE IS ROOTED IN THE BELIEF THAT EVERY YOUNG PERSON DESERVES TO SUCCEED AND EVERY ADULT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING THAT HAPPEN. OUR CAMPAIGNS AND INITIATIVES, SUCH AS GRADNATION, THE YES PROJECT, HOW LEARNING HAPPENS, AND EVERY SCHOOL HEALTHY, ALIGN ORGANIZATIONS BEHIND A COMMON VISION FOR A BETTER FUTURE AND BOLD GOALS TO REACH IT. THROUGH THIS ALIGNMENT, WE SPARK AND SUPPORT COLLECTIVE ACTION ACROSS ORGANIZATIONS, COMMUNITIES, AND INDIVIDUALS TO OVERCOME THE BARRIERS THAT STAND IN THE WAY OF YOUNG PEOPLE'S SUCCESS. THESE EFFORTS HAVE REACHED MILLIONS OF YOUNG PEOPLE.

RESEARCH/CENTER FOR PROMISE: AMERICA'S PROMISE ALLIANCE CENTER FOR PROMISE PRODUCES RIGOROUS MIXED METHODS RESEARCH FOR BOTH ACADEMIC AND NON-ACADEMIC AUDIENCES. ITS UNIQUE VALUE AS A RESEARCH INSTITUTE IS ITS DEDICATION TO YOUTH VOICE, WHETHER BY HIGHLIGHTING THE VOICES AND VIEWS OF YOUNG PEOPLE OR WORKING WITH YOUTH TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT RESEARCH METHODS TO STUDY THE ISSUES AFFECTING THEIR LIVES. THE CENTER'S WORK IS GROUNDED IN THE 'YOUTH SYSTEMS AND 'POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT' PERSPECTIVES. THE CENTER'S WORK FOCUSES ON: RELATIONSHIPS AND THE ROLE THEY PLAY IN FOSTERING POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT; WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND CAREER PATHWAYS; EXPERIENCES OF YOUNG PEOPLE WHO LEAVE HIGH SCHOOL WITHOUT GRADUATING; THE ROLE OF ADVERSITY IN YOUNG PEOPLE'S SCHOOL AND LIFE OUTCOMES; AND THE INTERCONNECTEDNESS OF SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT. THESE LINES OF RESEARCH ARE CORE COMPONENTS OF THE GRADNATION, YES, HOW LEARNING HAPPENS, AND EVERY SCHOOL HEALTHY CAMPAIGNS, LED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF STRATEGIC INITIATIVES AND PARTNERSHIPS.

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES AND PARTNERSHIPS/ALLIANCE ENGAGEMENT: APA IS A COLLECTIVE LEADERSHIP PLATFORM THAT IDENTIFIES AND BRINGS TOGETHER ALLIANCE PARTNERS, FUNDERS, AND YOUTH, TO TACKLE THE GREATEST CHALLENGES FACING AMERICA'S YOUNG PEOPLE. AMERICA'S PROMISE HAS DEEP EXPERIENCE IN HELPING ORGANIZATIONS LISTEN TO YOUNG PEOPLE AND PUT YOUTH IN LEADERSHIP POSITIONS, WHERE YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE AGENCY TO ADVOCATE FOR AND TO IMPLEMENT SOCIAL CHANGE THAT AFFECTS THEM IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. FOR EXAMPLE, THE POWER OF YOUTH CHALLENGE ENCOURAGES AND INSPIRES YOUTH-LED SERVICE PROJECTS THAT IMPACT THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE GRADNATION CAMPAIGN CONTINUES THE PUSH TO REACH A 90-PERCENT ON-TIME HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATE AND THE NATION IS NOW ABOVE 85 PERCENT. THE CAMPAIGN INCLUDES ENGAGING WITH STATES AND COMMUNITIES TO IMPROVE GRADUATION RATES OF SPECIFIC STUDENT POPULATIONS. THE EVERY SCHOOL HEALTHY PROJECT PARTNERS WITH SIX COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO IDENTIFY HOW COMMUNITIES ARE, AND CAN IMPROVE THEIR ABILITY TO, MEET YOUNG PEOPLE'S EMERGING NEEDS AND CREATE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS THAT ARE SAFE, SUPPORTIVE, AND FOSTER A SENSE OF WELL-BEING. THE YES PROJECT (YOUNG.EMPLOYED.SUCCESSFUL) IS GALVANIZING THE ALLIANCE BEHIND THE "READY CONNECTED SUPPORTED" SO THAT EVERY YOUNG PERSON WHO IS SEEKING A JOB CAN FIND A JOB. THE EVERY SCHOOL HEALTHY PROJECT'S PRIMARY GOAL IS TO MAKE HEALTHY SCHOOLS, I.E. SCHOOLS WHERE YOUNG PEOPLE FEEL SAFE, SUPPORTED, AND EMPOWERED, THE NORM AND NOT THE EXCEPTION FOR AMERICAN SCHOOLS.

COMMUNICATIONS: EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION IS ESSENTIAL TO DELIVERY OF OUR MISSION. THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT DISSEMINATES APA'S RESEARCH, SHARES KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION THROUGH SOCIAL AND OTHER MEDIA, AND AMPLIFIES THE WORK OF THE PROJECTS DESCRIBED ABOVE. IN ADDITION, COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORTS OTHER EXTERNAL EFFORTS, INCLUDING THOSE OF ALLIANCE PARTNERS, TO CREATE THE CONDITIONS THAT ENABLE YOUNG PEOPLE EXPERIENCE THE FIVE PROMISES.
