LAW AND POLICY - AAP REPRESENTS ITS MEMBERSHIP IN GOVERNMENT MEETINGS, LITIGATION, REGULATORY PROCEEDINGS, LEGISLATIVE PROCEEDINGS, TRADE AND TREATY DISCUSSIONS, AND MEETINGS IMPORTANT TO THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY. ITS PRINCIPLE FOCUS IS SECURING A RATIONAL LEGAL FRAMEWORK THAT REWARDS AND PROTECTS ITS MEMBERS' INVESTMENTS IN DEVELOPING, DISSEMINATING, AND/OR PROVIDING ACCESS TO PROPRIETARY CONTENT. AAP HAS A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL COPYRIGHT LAW, BUT ALSO REPRESENTS ITS MEMBERS ON RELATED PROCEEDINGS OF DIGITAL COMMERCE AS WELL AS FREEDOM TO PUBLISH ISSUES.
HIGHER EDUCATION - AAP'S PROGRAM FOR HIGHER EDUCATION PUBLISHING REPRESENTS THE INTERESTS OF AAP MEMBERS THAT PUBLISH FOR THE POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL MARKET ON MATTERS OF EDUCATION POLICY AND LEARNING SOLUTIONS THAT ARE SPECIFIC TO THESE SECTORS. IT UNDERTAKES GOVERNMENT RELATIONS PROJECTS AS NECESSARY, AS WELL AS INITIATIVES THAT INVOLVE IMPROVING STUDENT SUCCESS RATES, LOWERING THE COST PER PUPIL FOR INSTRUCTION, AND LOWERING THE STUDENTS' COSTS FOR COURSE MATERIALS, AND INNOVATIVE DIGITAL PLATFORMS.
PREK-12 - AAP'S PROGRAM FOR PREK-12 PUBLISHING REPRESENTS THE INTERESTS OF AAP MEMBERS THAT PUBLISH FOR THE SCHOOL MARKET ON MATTERS OF EDUCATION POLICY AND LEARNING SOLUTIONS THAT ARE SPECIFIC TO THESE SECTORS. IT UNDERTAKES GOVERNMENT RELATIONS PROJECTS AS NECESSARY, AS WELL AS INITIATIVES THAT INVOLVE INCREASING THE ACCESSIBILITY OF PROFESSIONAL, QUALITY CONTENT FOR EDUCATORS.
