Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Bhutan Foundation's mission is to help improve the quality of life of the Bhutanese people by enabling its citizens to pursue activities that benefit Bhutanese society and to increase awareness of Bhutan and its culture in the United States
The Bhutan Foundation supports programs in Bhutan that promote good governance, particularly to support the capacity building of local nonprofit organizations and to support democracy in Bhutan. Good Governance grants to local partner civil society organizations in Bhutan include the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, Bhutan Animal Rescue and Care, Bhutan Center for Media and Democracy, Bhutan Nuns Foundation, Khedrup Foundation, Tarayana Foundation, His Majesty's Welfare Fund, Bhutan Youth Development Fund etc.
Environment - The Bhutan Foundation supports programs in Bhutan that promote conservation of the environment. Conservation programs are focused on species conservation such as the Tiger Conservation Program and Snow Leopard Conservation Program. We are also working on climate change research in Bhutan through the UWICE HEROES Program. Other Environment grants include: Bhutan Ecological Society, River Guides of Panbang, WWF Bhutan, etc.
The Bhutan Foundation supports programs in Bhutan that promote preservation and promotion of Bhutan's culture. Our most significant cultural project is the restoration and adaptive reuse of the Wangduecholing Palace.
