HEALTH - THE HEALTH PROGRAM INCLUDES THE FUTURE OF HEALTH CARE PROJECT, THE HEALTH INNOVATION INITIATIVE AND THE PREVENTION INITIATIVE:THE FUTURE OF HEALTH CARE PROJECT BPC IS INTENSIFYING ITS EFFORTS TO SERVE AS A RESOURCE TO POLICYMAKERS AND TO DEVELOP EFFECTIVE AND POLITICALLY VIABLE SOLUTIONS TO OUR NATION'S HEALTH CARE CHALLENGES. BPC HAS CONVENED A BIPARTISAN GROUP OF LEADING NATIONAL HEALTHPOLICY EXPERTS TO IDENTIFY A PATH FORWARD FOR A CONSENSUS APPROACH TO IMPROVING HEALTH CARE IN THE UNITED STATES. THE FUTURE OF HEALTH CARE PROJECT FOCUSES ON COVERAGE AND ACCESS TO CARE, DELIVERY SYSTEM REFORM, COST CONTAINMENT, CHRONIC AND LONG-TERM CARE, AND RURAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH.HEALTH INNOVATION INITIATIVETHE HEALTH INNOVATION INITIATIVE WORKS WITH EXPERTS AND STAKEHOLDERS ACROSS EVERY SECTOR OF HEALTH CARE TO DEVELOP VIABLE POLICY OPTIONS TO ACCELERATE INNOVATION AND THE USE OF THE TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE HEALTH AND THE COST, QUALITY AND PATIENT EXPERIENCE OF CARE.PREVENTION INITIATIVEBPC'S PREVENTION INITIATIVE FOCUSES ON CLINICAL AND COMMUNITY PREVENTION, UPSTREAM DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH, AND THE INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORKS NECESSARY FOR BOTH HEALTH PROMOTION AND PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE. GOVERNANCE THE GOVERNANCE PROGRAM INCLUDES THE CONGRESS PROJECT, THE ELECTIONS PROJECT, GOVERNMENTAL STUDIES AND CAMPUS FREE EXPRESSION:THE CONGRESS PROJECTBPC'S CONGRESS PROJECT HOLDS THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH ACCOUNTABLE BY TRACKING THE FUNCTIONING OF CONGRESS THROUGH THE HEALTHY CONGRESS INDEX AND STRIVES TO BUILD BETTER RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN LAWMAKERS OF DIFFERENT PARTIES. UNDER THE AMERICAN CONGRESSIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM, PART OF THE CONGRESS PROJECT, MEMBERS OF CONGRESS WHO PARTICIPATE AGREE TO VISIT, FOR ONE WEEKEND, A MEMBER OF THE OPPOSITE PARTY IN THAT MEMBER'S DISTRICT. THAT MEMBER, IN TURN, RECIPROCATES THE FOLLOWING YEAR OR WHEN SCHEDULES PERMIT.THE ELECTIONS PROJECTFREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS ARE CRITICAL TO THE HEALTH OF DEMOCRACY, AND VOTING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT EXPRESSION OF A CITIZEN'S DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS.
