TO ADVANCE THE INHERENT POTENTIAL OF YOUNG ADULTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES IN THE WORK FORCE THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS THAT FOSTER INDEPENDENCE, SELF-ADVOCACY AND SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT.
Providing holistic training, mentoring and paid internship program with unique focus on stress reduction and tolerance, flexibility, and social supports. The program encompasses an initial two-week training period that covers the soft skills of workforce preparedness with a curriculum that emcompasses appropriate attire, workplace etiquette and demeanor, positive attitudes with emphasis on team play, effective communication, self-advocacy, personal responsibility, resume building and networking. After the training is completed, the program encompasses a mentoring and paid internship program that consist of 7-12 weeks following the initial training period. Participants work four days a week and train on Fridays to reinforce concepts learned in the initial training and to discuss ongoing progress and areas of needed support.
