Organizations Filed Purposes:
THROUGH LITIGATION, POLICY ANALYSIS AND PUBLIC EDUCATION, CLC WORKS AS A NONPARTISAN, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION TO PROTECT AND STRENGTHEN THE U.S. DEMOCRATIC PROCESS ACROSS ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT.
CAMPAIGN FINANCE AND ETHICS:CLC FILED FEDERAL COURT ACTIONS AND COMPLAINTS WITH THE FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION TO ENFORCE CURRENT CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAW WITH NUMEROUS MATTERS, INCLUDING A COMPLAINT REGARDING AN ORGANIZATION'S ILLEGAL USE OF SHELL CORPORATIONS TO MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF UNREPORTED CONTRIBUTIONS; A COMPLAINT THAT RESULTED IN TWO ARRESTS AND EXPOSED CONTROVERSIAL CONDUCT IN THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH; AND A COMPLAINT THAT RESULTED IN RECORD FINES IMPOSED FOR FOREIGN INTERFERENCE IN ELECTIONS. CLC ALSO HELD ELECTED OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ETHICS VIOLATIONS, INCLUDING FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT'S INSPECTOR GENERAL THAT LED TO AN INVESTIGATION OF FEDERAL ETHICS LAW COMPLIANCE; AND FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE OFFICE OF SPECIAL COUNSEL FOR HATCH ACT VIOLATIONS THAT RESULTED IN A FINDING THAT THE SENIOR OFFICIAL SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM GOVERNMENT SERVICE.
REDISTRICTING AND VOTING RIGHTS:CLC ADVANCED AND SUPPORTED REDISTRICTING REFORM THROUGH LITIGATION AND OTHER LEGAL AVENUES, AND REMAINED ON THE FRONT LINES FOR FAIR REDISTRICTING PRACTICES. CLC CONTINUED TO WORK TO MAKE EVERY VOTE COUNT, INCLUDING THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED THEIR TIME AND PAID THEIR DEBT TO SOCIETY. CLC PROVIDED DIRECT RIGHTS RESTORATION SERVICES TO THOUSANDS AND EDUCATED MORE THAN 5,100 PEOPLE WITH PAST CONVICTIONS ABOUT THEIR RIGHTS; CREATED A 50 STATE+ ONLINE TOOLKIT THAT WALKS INDIVIDUALS THROUGH THE RIGHTS RESTORATION PROCESS WITH SIMPLE QUESTIONS; AND LITIGATED CLAIMS TO VINDICATE THE RIGHTS OF JAILED VOTERS WHO ARE DISENFRANCHISED AND CHALLENGE UNCONSTITUTIONAL STATE LAWS THAT PREVENT ELIGIBLE VOTERS FROM CASTING THEIR BALLOTS.
