Organizations Filed Purposes: CAPITAL ROWING CLUB IS HOME TO AN ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP OF MORE THAN 300 MEN AND WOMEN FROM THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, MARYLAND, AND VIRGINIA. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS SWEEP AND SCULLING PROGRAMS FOR ALL ABILITY LEVELS, RANGING FROM NOVICE TO COMPETITIVE RACING FOR VETERAN ROWERS.

THE ORGANIZATION IS DEVOTED TO BRINGING ROWING OPPORTUNITIES TO THE NATION'S CAPITAL.THE ORGANIZATION STRIVES TO BRING ROWING TO HIGH AND JR. HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS IN DC, MD, AND VA. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES EQUIPMENT, AND TRAINING THAT WOULD NOT BE AFFORDABLE OR AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS.

PUBLIC ROWING OPPORTUNITIES & CAPITAL JUNIORS ROWING:PROVIDE SWEEP AND SCULLING ROWING OPPORTUNITIES TO THE PUBLIC. THIS REQUIRES MAINTAINING BOATS (RENTAL, LEASE, INSURANCE, AND STORAGE). THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES PUBLIC EDUCATION TO APPROXIMATELY 75 INDIVIDUALS.CAPITAL JUNIORS IS A COMPETITIVE ROWING AND ACADEMIC PROGRAM THAT BUILDS IN WASHINGTON, DC'S YOUNG PEOPLE DISCIPLINE, FITNESS, CAMARADERIE AND STEWARDSHIP FOR THE ANACOSTIA RIVER. THROUGH OUR PROGRAM, DC YOUTH, ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM LOW-INCOME AREAS, HAVE ACCESS TO ROWING AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND CAN APPLY THE LESSONS THEY LEARN IN EXCELLENCE TOWARD SUCCESSFUL FUTURES.

CAPITAL ADAPTIVE ROWING:CAPITAL ROWING CLUB, THROUGH THE CAPITAL ADAPTIVE ROWING PROGRAM, PROVIDES OUR AREA'S VETERANS AND WOUNDED WARRIORS AND CIVILIANS WITH A VARIETY OF DISABILITIES WITH A NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR ATHLETIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE SPORT OF ADAPTIVE ROWING IN A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY SETTING. BECAUSE CAPITAL ADAPTIVE HAS BUILT STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE U.S. PARALYMPIC MILITARY PROGRAM (MPP), THE VAMC, THE NATIONAL REHABILITATION HOSPITAL (NRH), WALTER REED ARMY MEDICAL CENTER (WRAMC), FORT BELVOIR, AND THE NATIONAL NAVAL MEDICAL CENTER (NNMC), VETERANS AND RETURNING ACTIVE-DUTY WOUNDED WARRIORS THROUGHOUT THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA ENJOY ACCESS TO CAPITAL'S BOATHOUSE ON THE ANACOSTIA RIVER AND EXPERIENCE THE RIVER THROUGH AN EXCITING SPORT. THIS PROVIDES A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT FOR THE AREA'S VETERAN AND ACTIVE-DUTY POPULATION WHO GET TO WORK CLOSELY WITH CAPITAL ROWING CLUB'S CIVILIAN POPULATION.THE PROGRAM IS OFFERED YEAR-ROUND: THREE TIMES PER WEEK IN THE SIX COLD-WEATHER MONTHS, AND THREE TIMES PER WEEK DURING THE SIX MONTHS SUITABLE FOR ON-THE-WATER TRAINING (APPROXIMATELY MAY 1 THROUGH OCTOBER 31). CAPITAL ADAPTIVE ALSO OFFERS STRUCTURED PROGRAMS ON REQUEST TO THE MPP, NRH, AND THE VAMC FOR ATHLETES NOT AT LIBERTY TO TRAVEL TO OUR BOATHOUSE ON THEIR OWN.IN ADDITION TO THE PHYSICAL THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS, ROWING WITH CAPITAL ADAPTIVE PROVIDES VALUABLE SOCIAL INTERACTIONS IN A TEAM SETTING TO ATHLETES WITH DISABILITIES. THE ORGANIZATION AND OTHER LOCAL ROWING CLUBS INCORPORATED ADAPTIVE ROWING EVENTS INTO THEIR ANNUAL REGATTAS, WHERE THE ADAPTIVE ATHLETES, THEIR FRIENDS, AND FAMILIES ENJOYED TREMENDOUS SUPPORT AND CAMARADERIE WHILE RACING AND ATTENDING POST-REGATTA SOCIAL EVENTS. SINCE 2010, CAPITAL ADAPTIVE BUILT A ROSTER OF APPROXIMATELY TEN ATHLETES WHO COMPETED IN NUMEROUS REGATTAS AND INDOOR ROWING COMPETITIONS, AND WON MEDALS IN A NUMBER OF ADAPTIVE EVENTS. THE ORGANIZATION HAS USED GRANT SUPPORT AND DONATIONS MADE TO THE CLUB TO PURCHASE ADAPTIVE BOATS, OARS, AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THE PROGRAM POSSIBLE.

COMPETITION:PROVIDES COMPETITION IN LOCAL AND NATIONAL RACE EVENTS. THE PROGRAM INCURS RACE FEES, GAS, AND TRANSPORTATION TO REGATTAS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES PUBLIC EDUCATION TO APPROXIMATELY 50 INDIVIDUALS.
