Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO DISSEMINATE SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION & METHODOLOGIES RELATED TO QUANTITATIVE HUMAN HEALTH CHEMICAL RISK ANALYSIS FOR THE PUBLIC, AND TO SUPPORT AND FACILITATE PUBLIC/PRIVATE STAKEHOLDER AND REGULATORY AGENCY RISK MANAGEMENT DECISION-MAKING, BASED ON SOUND SCIENCE.
THE CUMULATIVE AND AGGREGATE RISK EVALUATION SYSTEM NEXT GENERATION (CARES NG) DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION IS A US SECTION 501(C)(6) NOT FOR PROFIT BUSINESS ENTITY THAT DEVELOPS AND MAINTAINS THE NEXT GENERATION OF CARES (TM) (CALLED CARES NG, OR CARES NEXT GENERATION), A PROBABILISTIC SOFTWARE MODEL WHICH FACILITATES MULTI-SOURCE, MULTI-ROUTE AGGREGATE (FOR INDIVIDUAL CHEMICALS) AND CUMULATIVE (FOR MULTIPLE CHEMICALS) EXPOSURE AND RISK ASSESSMENTS. THE GOAL OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO ADVANCE AGGREGATE AND CUMULATIVE EXPOSURE AND RISK MODELING METHODS AND CAPABILITIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE SCIENTIFIC, REGULATORY AND PUBLIC INTEREST COMMUNITIES. CARES NG WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.
CARES (R) (CUMULATIVE AND AGGREGATE RISK EVALUATION SYSTEM) WAS ORIGINALLY DEVELOPED IN 2001 AS A POPULATION, CALENDAR-BASED, PROBABILISTIC MODEL FOR ESTIMATING AGGREGATE AND CUMULATIVE EXPOSURE AND RISK ACROSS MULTIPLE ROUTES: FOOD, WATER, AND RESIDENTIAL FOR PESTICIDES. THE MODEL IS UNDERGOING SIGNIFICANT UPGRADES TO MEET CURRENT AND FUTURE NEEDS:- MOVE FROM PC-BASED TO CLOUD-BASED SYSTEM FOR EASIER UPDATES. - STREAMLINE THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS.- UPDATE CONSUMPTION, RESIDUE MONITORING, AND BEHAVIORAL DATABASES.- REVISE THE RESIDENTIAL SOP ALGORITHMS TO REFLECT CURRENT EPA GUIDELINES.- ENABLE MINUTE BY MINUTE EXPOSURE ESTIMATES FOR ALL ROUTES OF EXPOSURE WITH RESULTS THAT CAN BE EXPORTED TO PHYSIOLOGICALLY BASED PHARMACOKINETIC (PBPK) MODELS.- CREATE A FLEXIBLE MODEL THAT CAN ACCOMMODATE LOW- TO HIGH-TIER ASSESSMENTS.THE GOAL OF THIS NEXT GENERATION OF CARES (CARES NG) IS TO ADVANCE AGGREGATE AND CUMULATIVE EXPOSURE AND RISK MODELING METHODS AND CAPABILITIES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE SCIENTIFIC, REGULATORY, AND PUBLIC INTEREST COMMUNITIES. CARES NG WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC USE.MEMBERSHIP IN THE CARES NG DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION IS OPEN TO ANY TASK FORCE, JOINT VENTURE OR CONSORTIUM OF CHEMICAL PRODUCERS OR PESTICIDE REGISTRANTS OR ANY INDIVIDUAL CHEMICAL PRODUCER (INCLUDING PROCESSOR) OR PESTICIDE REGISTRANT WHO DESIRES TO SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEXT GENERATION OF CARES (CARES NG). THE DEVELOPMENT OF CARES NG IS COORDINATED THROUGH ITS TECHNICAL ADVISORY GROUP (TAG). THE TAG MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO TECHNICAL EXPERTS FROM PESTICIDE REGISTRANTS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, MEMBERS OF ACADEMIA, NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS, AND CONTRACT RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS. NO FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION IS NECESSARY TO BE A MEMBER OF THE TAG.
