Organizations Filed Purposes: CENTER FOR CIVILIANS IN CONFLICT'S (CIVIC) MISSION IS TO WORK WITH ARMED ACTORS AND CIVILIANS IN CONFLICT TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS TO PREVENT, MITIGATE, AND RESPOND TO CIVILIAN HARM. WE CALL ON AND ADVISE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION, GOVERNMENTS, MILITARIES, AND ARMED NON-STATE ACTORS TO ADOPT AND IMPLEMENT POLICIES TO PREVENT CIVILIAN HARM. WHEN CIVILIANS ARE HARMED WE ADVOCATE FOR THE PROVISION OF AMENDS AND POST-HARM ASSISTANCE. WE BRING THE VOICES OF CIVILIANS THEMSELVES TO THOSE MAKING DECISION AFFECTING THEIR LIVES. THE ORGANIZATION WAS FOUNDED IN 2003 TO ADVOCATE FOR RECOGNITION AND ASSISTANCE FOR THE CIVILIAN VICTIMS OF THE IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN WARS. MORE THAN A DECADE LATER, CIVIC IS A GO-TO SOURCE FOR EFFECTIVE CIVILIAN PROTECTION POLICY AND PRACTICE, AND IS A LEADING VOICE FOR CIVILIANS LIVING IN CONFLICT THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM SERVICE CONSIST OF ITS COUNTRY OPERATIONS PROGRAM. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, THE ORGANIZATION TRAVELS TO CONFLICT ZONES TO WORK WITH CIVILIANS IN AFFECTED AREAS, WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING THEIR WELLBEING. THE ORGANIZATION ACTS AS ADVOCATES AND ADVISORS TO HELP CREATE POLICIES AND PRACTICES TO MAKE WARRING PARTIES MORE RESPONSIBLE TO CIVILIANS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER COMBAT OPERATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO RESEARCHES ISSUES IMPORTANT TO CIVILIANS CAUGHT IN ARMED CONFLICT AND USES THEIR FINDINGS TO ADVOCATE WITH THOSE IN POSITIONS OF POWER. SPECIFIC COUNTRIES WHERE THE WORK IS COMPLETED INCLUDE NIGERIA, SOUTH SUDAN, MALI, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO, IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, AND UKRAINE
