Organizations Filed Purposes: CEEAS HELPS ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS - IN COMMUNITY SETTINGS AND IN LOCKED FACILITIES - IMPLEMENT TRANSFORMATIONAL, STUDENT-FOCUSED PRACTICES, DESIGNED TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE LIFE CHANCES OF THE STUDENTS THEY SERVE.

THE TRAVIS HILL SCHOOL IS A TWO CAMPUS, ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL. ONE CAMPUS IS LOCATED INSIDE OF THE NEW ORLEANS ADULT JAIL AND THE OTHER IS LOCATED INSIDE OF THE NEW ORLEANS JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER. OUR MISSION AT THE TRAVIS HILL SCHOOLS IS TO CREATE A TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT WHERE STUDENTS HELD IN SECURE SETTINGS DEVELOP THE ACADEMIC AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL SKILLS THEY NEED TO BECOME POSITIVE, CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF THEIR COMMUNITY WHEN THEY ARE RELEASED. APPROXIMATELY 100 STUDENTS ATTEND THE SCHOOL AT ANY GIVEN TIME. WE OPENED THE SCHOOL IN THE JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER IN AUGUST OF 2016 AND IN THE JAIL IN AUGUST 2017.

THE WELCOMING PROJECT IS OUR TRANSITION SUPPORT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO ASSIST OUR STUDENTS WHEN THEY RETURN HOME FROM CONFINEMENT. THE MISSION OF THE WELCOMING PROJECT IS TO PROVIDE EACH OF OUR FELLOWS (YOUTH) WITH THE TOOLS AND SUPPORT THEY NEED TO PURSUE THEIR PASSION, DEVELOP THEIR SOCIAL, ACADEMIC, AND EMPLOYMENT SKILLS, BUILD A REWARDING LIFE, AND CONTRIBUTE POSITIVELY TO THE NEW ORLEANS COMMUNITY. WE ENSURE FELLOWS IN THE WELCOMING PROJECT (A) HAVE ADULTS, INCLUDING MENTORS, WHO SUPPORT THEM WITHOUT FAIL, (B) ARE ENROLLED IN AN EDUCATIONAL OR JOB TRAINING PROGRAM, (C) PARTICIPATE IN PROSOCIAL, COMMUNITY-BUILDING FELLOWSHIP PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES, AND (D) ARE CONNECTED TO ESSENTIAL WRAPAROUND SERVICES. WE STARTED THE WELCOMING PROJECT IN THE FALL OF 2018.

THE CONSORTIUM IS A LOOSE NETWORK OF JUVENILE JUSTICE AGENCIES (AND THEIR EDUCATION PARTNERS) THAT CEEAS SUPPORTS BY OFFERING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, PEER NETWORKING, RETREATS AND CONFERENCES.
