OUR MISSION STATEMENT IS TO GLORIFY GOD THROUGH PROCLAIMING AND TEACHING THE GOSPEL, LEADING PEOPLE TO CHRIST, DEVELOPING DISCIPLES, AND SERVING THE NEEDS OF HURTING PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE WASHINGTON DC METROPOLITAN AREA.
MEN'S MINISTRY - CENTRAL UNION MISSION'S MEN'S MINISTRY PROGRAMS NOT ONLY PROVIDE FOR PHYSICAL AND SAFETY NEEDS, WE ALSO GIVE PEOPLE THE SKILLS TO RETURN TO THEIR COMMUNITY SUCCESSFULLY RESTORED KNOWING THEY HAVE THE EDUCATIONAL, RELATIONAL AND SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION TO STAND ON THEIR OWN. CENTRAL UNION MISSION PROVIDED 49,155 BED-NIGHTS OF SHELTER FOR MEN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. FIFTEEN EMPLOYED MEN, GRADUATES OF MISSION PROGRAMS, LIVE AT THE LAMBERT HOUSE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING. IN ADDITION TO FOOD, SHELTER AND CLOTHING, WE PROVIDED 312 MEDICAL AND DENTAL EXAMS. THE RESTORATION & TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM HELPED 14 MEN REHAB FROM LIFE-CONSUMING ADDICTIONS, STRENGTHEN THEIR ABILITIES AND DETERMINATION AND GAIN AN ACCOUNTABILITY NETWORK, WHICH INCLUDED HELP FROM 3,960 COUNSELING SESSIONS. THE WORKFORCE & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROVIDES JOB READINESS TRAINING, WHICH PREPARED MEN FOR EMPLOYMENT AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. THE MISSION PROVIDED SHELTER RESIDENTS AND PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS 2,506 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION IN ENGLISH LITERACY, GED/HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PREPARATION AND COMPUTER TRAINING. OVERALL, THE MISSION FOUND PERMANENT HOUSING FOR 48 PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS THIS YEAR, AND 75 GAINED SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OUTSIDE THE MISSION.
FAMILY MINISTRY CENTER - BESIDES PROVIDING 290,000 BAGS OF GROCERIES, MISSION DONORS DONATED OPERATION CHRISTMAS MIRACLE PRESENTS FOR 1,000 CHILDREN; 400 NEW BACKPACKS AND BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES.
PARTNERSHIPS - THROUGH BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS WITH VOLUNTEERS AND PRAYER PARTNERS, DONORS AND FOUNDATIONS, OUR CHURCHES, BUSINESSES AND OTHERS WHO CONNECT WITH THE MISSION, WE WILL MODEL CHRIST'S PRINCIPLES TO FACILITATE SHARING THE GOSPEL WITH NON-BELIEVERS.
