CIVICUS: WORLD ALLIANCE FOR CITIZEN PARTICIPATION, INC. (CIVICUS) IS A NONPROFIT MEMBERSHIP ALLIANCE OF ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS DEDICATED TO STRENGTHENING CITIZEN ACTION AND INFLUENCE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD THROUGH VOLUNTARY INITIATIVE, PHILANTHROPY, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. CIVICUS'S MAIN OBJECTIVES ARE TO PROMOTE RESEARCH AND DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION, OFFER BROAD MEETING AND PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES, SUPPORT EXEMPLARY PROJECTS AND EXPERIENCES, ASSIST IN REMOVING THE LEGAL OBSTACLES IMPEDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR, AND PROMOTE A POLITICAL AND CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT FAVORABLE TO GIVING, VOLUNTEERING, AND CITIZEN ACTION.

INNOVATION/MOBLAB: MOBLAB TRAINS, COACHES AND CHALLENGES CHANGEMAKERS AND THEIR ORGANIZATIONS TO BUILD PEOPLE POWER, DEPLOY CREATIVE TACTICS, TACKLE ROOT CAUSES AND ADOPT COLLABORATIVE CULTURES IN ORDER TO ADDRESS THE SCALE AND COMPLEXITY OF TODAY'S CHALLENGES. TRAINING, WORKSHOPS, AND COACHING: MOBLAB GUIDES PRACTITIONERS AND LEADERS TO DESIGN NIMBLE, PEOPLE-POWERED ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNS USING PARTICIPATORY APPROACHES THAT BOTH DELIVER BIGGER WINS AND TRANSFORM ORGANIZATIONS. KNOWLEDGE SHARING AND PEER LEARNING: MOBLAB SHINES A LIGHT ON STORIES OF EXPERIMENTATION AND LEARNING TO CHALLENGE CHANGEMAKERS TO ADAPT TO WHAT WORKS (AND WHAT DOESN'T) IN GLOBAL SOCIAL CHANGE. MOBLAB ALSO FACILITATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHANGEMAKERS TO GROW THROUGH PEER LEARNING AND IN TURN SHARE THEIR OWN KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WITH THE GLOBAL ADVOCACY CAMPAIGNING COMMUNITY.
PROGRAMMES (FORMERLY POLICY & RESEARCH): PROGRAMMES WORKSTREAM BUDGET FALLS UNDER THE STRATEGIC GOAL ONE OF CIVICUS WHICH IS DEFENDING CIVIC FREEDOMS AND DEMOCRATIC VALUES. CIVICUS DEFENDS THE FUNDAMENTAL CIVIC FREEDOMS OF ASSOCIATION, PEACEFUL ASSEMBLY AND EXPRESSION IN ALL COUNTRIES, PARTICULARLY WHEN THEY ARE UNDER THREAT. WE WORK TO ENSURE THAT PEOPLE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITIES AND TOOLS FOR FULL, EFFECTIVE AND CREATIVE PARTICIPATION IN THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES THAT AFFECT THEM BY USING MULTIPLE APPROACHES INCLUDING PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH, POLICY ANALYSIS, SOLIDARITY ADVOCACY, EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, COALITION BUILDING AND STRATEGIC CONVENING.
NETWORKS (FORMERLY PARTNERSHIP): THE CIVICUS NETWORK IS A VIBRANT ALLIANCE OF MORE THAN 8,000 INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANISATIONS IN 175 COUNTRIES. THE CIVICUS SECRETARIAT ENGAGES THIS NETWORK THROUGH A VARIETY OF STRATEGIC APPROACHES, INCLUDING THE FACILITATION OF COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE LIKE CIVICUS YOUTH AND THE AFFINITY GROUP OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS, AND REGULAR VIRTUAL AND PHYSICAL CONVENINGS THAT ALLOW MEMBERS TO EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES, AND LEVERAGE THE COLLECTIVE SKILLS, RESOURCES AND POWER OF THE ALLIANCE. IN ADDITION, THE CIVICUS SECRETARIAT CURATES PROGRAMS TO ENGAGE THE KEY STAKEHOLDERS (E.G. EMERGING CIVIL SOCIETY LEADERS AND ACTIVISTS) AND TO ADDRESS THE KEY PRIORITIES AND NEEDS (E.G. CIVIL SOCIETY RESOURCING) OF THE ALLIANCE.
