Critical Exposure trains DC youth of color to harness the power of photography and their own voices to fight for education equity and social justice.
General Programs - Critical Exposure's program teach photography, leadership, and organizing skills to low-income youth of color in DC. Our work is highly innovative. We are the only organization in the DC area and one of only a handful of organizations nationally that teaches low income youth how to use photography and organizing skills to become lifelong civic leaders. Past student efforts have helped to maintain arts graduation requirement for DC schools, won funding for a new school library, established a new ethnic studies class, and secured increased training for school security guards. Through our programs, we are developing a new generation of youth organizers and civic leaders who have the creativity to imagine new solutions to old problems and the belief that they have the right to fight for better schools and stronger communities.
