Do The Write Thing, in partnership with iLead institute offered ARTS INTEGRATION/STEM program at Plummer Elementary School from Jan - Mar (when schools were closed due to COVID-19). From Apr-Jun 2020, DTWT offered virtual programs for students from Plummer ES. From Oct-Dec 2020, a virtual ART INTEGRATION program was offered for students attending Capitol Hill Montessori School
Do The Write Thing implemented its R.O.Y.A.L.(Raising Our Youth As Leaders) Multi-Media Arts Program a Kelly Miller Middle School from Jan-Mar that included a Black History Month multi-media salute to Ava Duvernay and her documentary film titled August 28th, which describes historical events that all took place on that date in different years. Youth also participated in poetry writing workshops until schools closed due to COVID-19 in March 2020. Virtual poetry writing sessions were offered again from Oct-Dec 2020.
Do The Write Thing implemented a Virtual 8-week work readiness in Partnership with the DC Department of Emplyment Services for their 2020 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) through which youth, age 14-17, were paid to participate in a work readiness and career training program in the media, publication and entertainment fields. Youth wrote and published a book of poems, shared their poems in 2 Virtual Open Mics, produced PSAs and a Virtual Town Hall that examined the intersecting dynamics between COVID-19, the death of George Floyd and racism. the youth also published a book of their poems.
