Organizations Filed Purposes: Doctors for America was organized to mobilize doctors and medical students to be leaders in putting patients over politics on the pressing issues of the day to improve the health of our patients, communities, and nation.

Drug Affordability:The Drug Affordability Action Teams (DAAT) National Steering Committee was launched and became a working group and began 2020 developing relationships and working with point persons in key states to mobilize DFA members for our partner campaigns. However, by the final day of February 2020, much of that work had to pivot due to COVID as our membership began to fight the virus that upended our economy, closed our schools, and overwhelmed the very hospitals and clinics where our members work. The DFA team took the initiative to improve upon our technical skills. We placed increased emphasis in building our capacity to be nimble in our responsiveness to developments related to drug affordability initiatives with a lens on access and affordability to COVID-19 therapeutics and vaccines.Continued on Schedule O.

Gun Violence Prevention:DFA continues to engage members on GVP in terms of advocacy opportunities around GV policy and provide a range of options for their engagement. Safe Storage is a subject that almost every physician medical student thinks is important to be able to talk about with their patients. In 2020, DFA was focused on beginning a campaign of getting Safe Storage Advocacy training into medical schools and residency programs. The second advocacy subject - incorporating anti-racism training into GVP training, is a much more controversial subject that received recent focus with the murder of George Floyd in Minneapols in May 2020. Other DFA Programs (Health for All, Womens Health, Immigration Health Justice and Special adhoc group that worked on COVID):Doctors For America works on access to affordable care, community health and prevention and health justice and equity. An additional COVID Committee quickly formed in response to the incredible challenges being witnessed by members on the ground across the country. Leaders and members created and shared the educational materials our leaders created in 2020. From vaccine hesitancy toolkits to national webinars with partnered organizations to educate physicians on their role as physician advocate during a pandemic.Continued on Schedule O.
