WE ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE PREPARED FOR A POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION AND/OR CAREERS IN THE ARTS BY OFFERING AN INTENSIVE ARTS-BASED PROGRAM. WE PREPARE OUR STUDENTS TO BECOME PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS IN OUR GLOBAL SOCIETY THROUGH OUR STRONG FOCUS ON COMMUNITY SERVICE.

ACADEMICS AND ARTS:ACADEMICS - RANKED AS ONE OF DC PUBLIC SCHOOLS' HIGHEST PERFORMING HIGH SCHOOLS, ELLINGTON ENCOURAGES ITS STUDENTS TO TAKE ADVANCE PLACEMENT COURSE LOAD THAT INCLUDES CALCULUS, BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, US HISTORY, WORLD HISTORY, LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE AND WORLD LANGUAGE, AS WELL AS HONORS ACADEMIC COURSES. ELLINGTON'S ACADEMIC BLOCK MEETS FROM 8:30AM - 2:00PM TO PROVIDE MAXIMUM FOCUS AS WE DELVE INTO THE CURRICULUM USING BEST PRACTICES TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS' EFFORTS TOWARDS UNLIMITED ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS. THESE EFFORTS HAVE PRODUCED A 98% ON-TIME GRADUATION RATE, WITH AN INCREASING PERCENTAGE OF COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES, ANNUALLY.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)ARTS - THE ARTS DEPARTMENT AT ELLINGTON PROVIDES A THOROUGH, COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING GROUND FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THEY WILL PURSUE AN ARTISTIC CAREER. CULTIVATING CRITICAL THINKING, ART MAKING, SELF-DISCOVERY, AND TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT - ALL ARE OBJECTIVES OF OUR ARTS CURRICULUM. THE NURTURING FACULTY AT ELLINGTON PROMOTES STUDENTS' MASTERY OF THEIR UNIQUE CREATIVE PROCESSES, OPPORTUNITIES TO COLLABORATE ACROSS DISCIPLINES, EXPOSURE TO PROMINENT CULTURAL LEADERS AND ARTISTS - AS WELL AS THE SOLID ACADEMIC BONES - TO ENABLE THEM TO SHAPE THEIR OWN CAREERS.
