Organizations Filed Purposes:
EG Justice stands with the people of Equatorial Guinea to protect their rights and dignity as human beings. We root out and challenge corruption head on. As the only human rights entity exclusively devoted to Equatorial Guinea, we are a bridge and a platform for changemakers to envision and build a just society.
Our programs in 2020 included the following: - Advocacy campaign: As a response to the tragic explosion in Bata, EG Justice launched an advocacy and fundraising campaign to press the government to take immediate actions to investigate the causes of the explosion, provide support to the hundreds of victims and call for accountability. - Roundtable discussions: Supporting youth diaspora group Versos Libres, EG Justice helped identify speakers, and provide funding to create a podcast. - Satire news videos: Providing funding and guidance to diaspora group Codigo GE in order to develop satire videos that cover news from Equatorial Guinea - Documenting human rights violations: In collaboration with Clooney Foundation and Covington, document human rights violations in the country, particularly torture and lack of due process to file a case before the UN Human Rights special bodies. - Documenting Kleptocracy cases; Working with the Central African Coalition Against Kleptocracy develop stories and an international advocacy campaign to raise awareness of kleptocracy in the region. - Awareness raising: To highlight human rights violations and looting in Equatorial Guinea, Tutu Alicante has participated in numerous events and lead conferences including as a speaker before the US Congress Lantos Human Rights Commission.
