FOUNDATION FOR CONTEMPORARY MENTAL HEALTH (THE FOUNDATION) IS ORGANIZED TO PROVIDE SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT AND EDUCATION IN THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA WITH A SPECIAL INTEREST IN SERVING INDIGENT, UNINSURED AND UNDER-INSURED POPULATIONS.

PIDARC IS A PRIVATE OUTPATIENT MEDICATION ASSISTANT AND COUNSELING TREATMENT PROGRAM SERVICING AN AVERAGE MONTHLY CENSUS OF 645 PATIENTS IN THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA, MOST OF WHOM ARE UNINSURED OR UNDERINSURED INDIVIDUALS. IN 2019, AN AVERAGE OF 345 PATIENTS WERE SEEN IN THE CLINIC DAILY. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING TREATMENT FOR SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS, PIDARC IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING LINKAGES FOR PATIENTS TO ADDRESS THEIR MEDICAL AND PSYCHOSOCIAL NEEDS. TO THAT END, PIDARC REQUIRES PATIENTS TO HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FROM A PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER AND HAS A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH A PRACTICE IN THE SAME BUILDING TO PROVIDE PHYSICALS FOR THOSE PATIENTS WHO HAVE NOT YET IDENTIFIED A PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. IN 2019, 935 PATIENTS RECEIVED AN ANNUAL PHYSICAL EXAM WHICH WAS REVIEWED WITH THEM BY A PIDARC NURSE AND FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS FOR SPECIALTY MEDICAL SERVICES WERE MADE, WHEN INDICATED. IN ADDITION, 864 REFERRALS WERE MADE AND TRACKED FOR CASE MANAGEMENTS SERVICES TO ADDRESS MENTAL HEALTH, HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT, FINANCIAL, AND TRANSPORTATION NEEDS.
DISTRICT OPIOID TARGETED STRATEGIES - IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION RECEIVED A GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF IDENTIFYING PATIENTS TO RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE PHYSICALS, EKGS AND TB TESTS ANNUALLY AND LINKING THEM WITH PRIMARY CARE SERVICES. THE GRANT PAID FOR SALARIES, BENEFITS AND ASSOCIATED OPERATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS FOR TWO INDIVIDUALS TO WORK WITH THE PATIENTS ON A CASE MANAGEMENT BASIS TO SCHEDULE AND FOLLOW UP ON THEIR PARTICIPATION WHILE ALSO COLLECTING REQUIRED DATA.
