Organizations Filed Purposes: TO CONNECT PEOPLE TO KENILWORTH AQUATIC GARDENS THROUGH STEWARDSHIP, ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN COOPERATION WITH THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE.

TO ENSURE THE PARK IS WELL-MAINTAINED, WELL-ENJOYED AND WELCOMING FOR ALL.

EDUCATION - FOKAG IS COMMITTED TO DEEPENING CONNECTIONS AND INCREASING ENGAGEMENT WITH THE SURROUNDING UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. THROUGH A WEEK-LONG SPRING BREAK CAMP AND A TWO-WEEK SUMMER CAMP, FOKAG INTRODUCES 35+ LOCAL CHILDREN TO THIS EXCITING NATURAL RESOURCE IN THEIR BACKYARD. CAMPERS EXPLORE THE WETLANDS, PONDS, PLANTS AND ANIMALS ALONGSIDE TEENS AND ADULTS FROM THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD AND VENTURE TO OTHER LOCAL PARKS TO EXPAND THEIR EXPERIENCE. PROGRAMS FOSTER A SENSE OF BELONGING AND LIFELONG APPRECIATION FOR NATURE.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT - FOKAG PROVIDES SAFE, CULTURALLY-ENRICHING EVENTS YEAR-ROUND TO HELP CONNECT PEOPLE TO THE PARK, INCLUDING SUMMER CONCERTS, FAMILY DAYS AND AN ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST. FOKAG ALSO SUPPORTS THE PARK'S SIGNATURE ANNUAL SUMMER EVENT, THE LOTUS AND WATER LILY FESTIVAL. THIS FESTIVAL OF GLOBAL CULTURAL PERFORMANCES, INTERPRETATION AND HISTORY OF THE NATURAL AND CULTURAL LANDSCAPE ATTRACTS AN AVERAGE OF 13,000 VISITORS AND COINCIDES WITH THE BLOOM OF THE PARK'S BEAUTIFUL LOTUS AND WATER LILIES.

STEWARDSHIP - FOKAG PROVIDES HUMAN, FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL RESOURCES TO KEEP THE PARK HEALTHY AND BEAUTIFUL. IN 2019, MORE THAN 970 FOKAG VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED 3,350 HOURS OF THEIR TIME TO PICK UP TRASH, REMOVE INVASIVE PLANTS, AND RESTORE POND BANKS. FOKAG ALSO PROVIDES MUCH-NEEDED VOLUNTEER SUPPLIES, SUCH AS LANDSCAPING TOOLS AND NATIVE PLANTS. THIS YEAR FOKAG SECURED A TWO-YEAR GRANT OF $154,000 TO UPGRADE PARK TRAILS, DESIGN AND INSTALL INFORMATIONAL SIGNS, AND PURCHASE AMENITIES TO ENHANCE VISITOR EXPERIENCE AND INCREASE ACCESSIBILITY. THESE FUNDS ALSO SUPPORT A TEAM OF YOUNG ADULTS FROM THE LOCAL AREA TO PERFORM SEASONAL MAINTENANCE AND RESTORATION WORK.
