Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO ENABLE THE POOR, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, TO CREATE A WORLD WITHOUT POVERTY AND HUNGER.
FINANCIAL SERVICES: OUR DIGITAL FINANCIAL SERVICES WORK FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING NETWORKS OF TRAINED FEMALE COMMUNITY AGENTS TO PROVIDE THEIR NEIGHBORS DIGITAL ACCESS TO FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES. AGENTS ALSO EARN A SMALL TRANSACTION FEE TO IMPROVE THEIR OWN LIVES. WE ALSO CONTINUED THE DIGITAL INCLUSION VIA EDUCATION (DIVE) PROGRAM IN INDIA WHICH TRAINS FEMALE FINANCIAL SERVICE AGENTS TO TEACH FINANCIAL LITERACY TO MARGINALIZED FAMILIES. OTHER PROJECTS INCLUDE WOMENLINK PROGRAMS IN INDIA AND THE PHILIPPINES, AND THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND AUGMENTED REALITY TOOLS TO EXPAND FINANCIAL INCLUSION IN BOTH COUNTRIES. IN ADDITION, WE ARE WORKING WITH PARTNERS ON TWO PROGRAMS: 1. WOMEN AND GIRLS EMPOWERED (WAGE) INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE WOMEN'S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT IN EL SALVADOR AND HONDURAS, AND 2. THE RICHES GLOBAL PROGRAM TO ELIMINATE UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OF WOMEN'S ENTERPRISES, SUCH AS CHILD LABOR OR POOR LABOR STANDARDS.
HEALTH AND AGRICULTURAL SOLUTIONS: GRAMEEN FOUNDATION USA'S INNOVATIONS IN AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT HELP EXPAND DIGITAL SERVICES TO SMALLHOLDER FARMERS AND STRENGTHEN WOMEN'S SAVINGS GROUPS. IN FY19, GRAMEEN FOUNDATION USA LAUNCHED WITH PARTNERS A FARMER-TO-FARMER PROGRAM IN COLOMBIA AND ANOTHER IN KENYA. FARMER-TO-FARMER'S COMMUNITY AGENTS TRAIN FARMERS IN FINANCIAL LITERACY, FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON WOMEN. WE ALSO CONTINUE OUR SAT4FARMING PROGRAM WORK IN GHANA TO HELP SMALLHOLDER COCOA FARMERS. THE PROJECT USES SATELLITE IMAGERY TO ANALYZE AND TRACK ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS SUCH AS WATER AVAILABILITY, CROP COVER, AND SOIL QUALITY. COMMUNITY AGENTS THEN USE THE DATA TO CREATE FARM DEVELOPMENT PLANS TO HELP SMALLHOLDER FARMERS BREAK FREE FROM CYCLES OF POVERTY BY IMPROVING YIELDS AND ACCESSING MARKETS.
STRENGTHENING ORGANIZATIONS: GRAMEEN FOUNDATION USA REMAINS COMMITTED TO BUILDING UP THE INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ECOSYSTEM THAT SUPPORTS BILLIONS OF PEOPLE AS THEY WORK THEIR WAY OUT OF POVERTY. WE FOCUS ON ENSURING THAT ORGANIZATIONS WORKING ON POVERTY AND HUNGER ARE EQUIPPED WITH THE BEST MINDS AND TECHNOLOGY TO HELP THEM SERVE MARGINALIZED FAMILIES EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY. OUR BANKERS WITHOUT BORDERS PROGRAM MOBILIZES THE TALENT AND SKILLS OF PRIVATE SECTOR VOLUNTEERS TO SUPPORT THE MISSIONS OF POVERTY-FOCUSED SOCIAL ENTERPRISES. TAROWORKS LLC, A SUBSIDIARY OF GRAMEEN FOUNDATION USA, IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE WHOSE MOBILE-BASED DATA TOOL ENABLES ORGANIZATIONS SERVING POOR AND REMOTE AREAS TO EFFICIENTLY COLLECT, ANALYZE AND ACT ON FIELD DATA. THE POVERTY PROBABILITY INDEX (PPI) (PREVIOUSLY CALLED THE PROGRESS OUT OF POVERTY INDEX) IS A POWERFUL, LOW-COST TOOL DEVELOPED BY GRAMEEN FOUNDATION USA, AND NOW MANAGED BY THE PPI ALLIANCE. AS OF FY19, OUR VOLUNTEERS HAVE PROVIDED $27.5 MILLION IN IN-KIND SERVICES TO 278 SOCIAL ENTERPRISES, AND NINETY ORGANIZATIONS IN 30+ COUNTRIES ACTIVELY USED TAROWORKS, LLC TO MANAGE THEIR OPERATIONS. IN ADDITION, MORE THAN 600 ORGANIZATIONS HAVE USED THE PPI TO TRACK AND IMPROVE THEIR SERVICES.
