RYAN WHITE - THE EFFI BARRY TRAINING INSTITUTE IS DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF THE HIV CARE AND PREVENTION WORKFORCE TO OPTIMALLY PLAN, IMPLEMENT, AND SUSTAIN HIGH-IMPACT HIV PREVENTION (HIP) AND HIV CARE INTERVENTIONS AND STRATEGIES UNDER DC DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH'S BUSINESS PROCESS WITHIN CBOS, COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS TO REDUCE HIV INFECTIONS AND HIV-RELATED MORBIDITY, MORTALITY, AND HEALTH DISPARITIES ACROSS THE GREATER WASHINGTON REGIONAL AREA.THE TRAINING INSTITUTE PROVIDES TRAININGS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE HAHSTA GRANTEES AND COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS IN THE FEE-FOR-SERVICE BUSINESS PROCESS; BASIC HIV SERVICE COMPETENCIES; ADVANCED SKILLS IN HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS, DATA AND HEALTH INFORMATICS; HIGH-IMPACT PREVENTION PROGRAMS, INCLUDING BIOMEDICAL; AND EMERGING EVIDENCE-BASED OR INFORMED APPROACHES THROUGH A SERIES OF GROUP-LEVEL TRAININGS, BOOT CAMPS, COMMUNITY FORUMS, AND INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATION.
OPIOIDS - THE DC OPIOID LEARNING INSTITUTE, LED BY HEALTHHIV, IS A COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVE WITH A MISSION TO EDUCATE PRESCRIBERS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS ON SAFE AND EFFECTIVE OPIOID PRESCRIBING PRACTICES. THE SELF-PACED CME/CE ACCREDITED CURRICULUM COVERS TOPICS RELATED TO EVIDENCE-BASED OPIOID USE TREATMENT OPTIONS, SAFE OPIOID PRESCRIBING, REDUCTION OF RISKS OF OPIOID MISUSE, EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES WITH PATIENTS ABOUT OPIOID MISUSE, AND OVERDOSE PREVENTION.THIS PROGRAM IS FUNDED WHOLLY, OR IN PART, BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, DC HEALTH, HIV/AIDS, HEPATITIS, STD, AND TB ADMINISTRATION (HAHSTA).
THE THREE D PROGRAM PROVIDES HIV PREVENTION TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE BY TAKING A COMPREHENSIVE LOOK AT, AND DEVELOPING A STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF, THE CHANGING HEALTHCARE DELIVERY LANDSCAPE AND THE IMPACT OF HEALTHCARE REFORM ON HIV PREVENTION PROVIDERS. THIS COMPREHENSIVE, THREE DIMENSIONAL EXAMINATION OF THE SITUATION IS ASSESSED BY LOOKING AT THE NEEDS OF STAKEHOLDERS, BASED ON PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS/DELIVERABLES, TO ENHANCE DATA COLLECTION/ANALYSIS TO MAKE BETTER INFORMED PROGRAMMATIC DECISIONS THAT IMPACT THE DELIVERY OF QUALITY HIV PREVENTION SERVICES. THE PROGRAM TITLING, "DIRECTING COMPREHENSIVE TA FROM SYSTEMS TO SUSTAINABILITY" DEMONSTRATES THE APPROACHES THAT GUIDE THE THREE D PROGRAM.
