Hispanic Access Foundation connects Latinos and others with partners and opportunities to improve lives and create and equitable society.
My access to network opportunities- HAF's Mano Project partnered with the National Park Service, US Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management to operate youth career development programs, which are designed to train young people in the skills of cultural, historical, and natural resource management. As part of the program, HAF recruited and placed more than 50 interns at various public land sites. Undergraduate and graduate students worked alongside agency staff adn received additional training, mentoring, and support through HAF. The Mano Project is an educational project partially funded by the Federal Government. No Mano Project funds are spent on lobbying activites.
Conservation Program- This program harnesses the Latino Community's passion for public lands and the outdoors to increase their capacity to engage in the conservation of land and water in order to ensure good health and well being for generations to come. Por la creacion faith based alliance engaged youth, families, and communities throughout the West in conservation projects and outdoor experiences to educate and build leadership in conservation and to imporve public health. Latino leaders collaborated to protect national monuments, the land and water conservation fund and the Colorado River. The HAF Initiative Latino Conservation week was held in July engaging 180 partners in over 150 community events nationwide. Additonally, HAF screened its film "Land, Water, Y Comunidad" in multiple states accross the country.
Partner Engagement - Launched in 2018, the Hispanic Leadership Network is a mentoring and leadership program to support young, mid-career and experienced latino pastors serving high-need rural and urban congregations across the U.S. The program will help to enhance the ability of pastors to serve the unique needs of latino congregations and support them in key transition moments in their career. By building a peer support network and undertaking an intensive, customized program of leadership training and reflection, the participants will be better prepared to lead initiatives and church programs that enhance the vitality of their conregations and serve the unique needs of multigenerational latino communities.
