Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Homeland Security and Defense Business Council is a forum that promotes and enhances communication between government agencies and private industries. The Council presents the business community with the opportunity to interact with representatives from the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Department of Defense, State and Local Government and Federal Agencies. As a membership-based organization, the Council delivers and promotes analysis of key subject issues by experts and coordinates events that promote networking.
National Conversation, Annual Dinner and Annual Members Meeting The Councils annual National Conversation is an opportunity for Members and government officials to discuss key topics of mutual interest in a more widely-attended event that is open to the press. The organizations Annual Dinner, also open to the press, is held each December and provides a business forum in a holiday atmosphere in which its senior executive members and government officials with whom the Council has engaged with meet in peer-to-peer informal networking to celebrate accomplishments in the Homeland Security space over the past year. The event also honors outstanding homeland security enterprise public officials with its annual Service Achievement Award. The Councils Annual Members Meeting is held each spring to review the previous years programs/initiatives, distribute its Annual Report, discuss the priorities and challenges of its members in the Homeland Security marketplace going forward, and hear from a government official on issues of mutual concern.
Executive Tours The Council sponsors both in-the-DC-region and out-of-town visits to critical government homeland security facilities for members to meet with and learn more about the on-ground operational challenges in the Homeland Security and law enforcement environment. These Tours include high-level briefings, facility tours, and roundtable discussions.
Executive Roundtables, Executive Briefings, Chairmans Briefings, Congressional Meet & Greet Engagement Programs The Council hosts discussions and meetings throughout the year that bring senior level executives and subject matter experts from Member companies together to hear from and engage with their counterpart senior government agency and congressional officials who are responsible for or have significant expertise on the policy and process issues in the Homeland Security Enterprise. Programs have at least one government official in conversation with or briefing Council member representatives on issues of mutual concern. These events are open only to current and sometimes prospective members and are closed to the press. Invited guests include officials from the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice/FBI, the United States Congress, and other relevant/related Federal agencies.
