MIDDLE EAST NORTH AFRICA (MENA) - IWPR'S LARGEST REGIONAL PROGRAM IN 2019. IWPR OPERATED PROGRAMS FOCUSING ON TRAINING, MENTORING AND PROVIDING ONGOING SUPPORT TO JOURNALISTS AND CIVIL SOCIETY ACTIVISTS WORKING IN CONFLICT ZONES. THE DIGITAL SECURITY PROGRAM HELPS ENSURE THAT REPORTERS AND ACTIVISTS ARE ABLE TO ADVANCE THEIR WORK BY USING SOCIAL MEDIA SAFELY AND BY PREVENTING OUTSIDE ACCESS TO THEIR INFORMATION, DATA OR NETWORKS BY THOSE WHO THREATEN THEM.
ASIA - IWPR'S SECOND LARGEST PROGRAM IS IN ASIA AND SOUTHEAST ASIA, WHERE WE OPERATE ON PROGRAMS THAT FOCUS ON OPENING UP SPACE FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION IN REPRESSIVE SOCIETIES, STRENTHENING INDEPENDENT MEDIA NETWORKS AND PROMOTING PUBLIC DEBATE ABOUT CRITICAL ISSUES IN THE RUN UP TO LOCAL ELECTIONS.
LATIN AMERICA - IWPR WORKS WITH JOURNALISTS AND CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS IN THE REGION, STRENGTHENING THEIR ABILITY TO CONDUCT FACT-BASED REPORTING, TO PROVIDE OBJECTIVE, UNBIASED AND ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE COUNTRY, AND TO WORK TOGETHER TO ESTABLISH MUTUAL SUPPORT NETWORKS.
