Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MANUFACTURING INSTITUTE, THE EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE PARTNER OF THE NAM, IS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING THE MANUFACTURING WORKFORCE OF TODAY AND GROWING THE MANUFACTURING WORKFORCE OF TOMORROW. IT DOES SO THROUGH A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO EXCITE, EDUCATE, AND EMPOWER THE WORKFORCE WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS IN FOUR KEY AREAS: WOMEN, VETERANS, YOUTH AND SKILLS TRAINING. THE INSTITUTE ALSO SERVES AS THE LEADING AUTHORITY ON DATA AND RESEARCH FOR THE INDUSTRY THROUGH ITS CENTER FOR MANUFACTURING RESEARCH, CLOSELY EXAMINING ISSUES OF IMPORTANCE TO MANUFACTURERS, BOTH TO HELP UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES AND ILLUMINATE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO SOLVE THE ISSUES.

TO BUILD INTELLECTUAL SUPPORT AMONG POLICYMAKERS, THE MEDIA, EDUCATORS, AND STUDENTS FOR A PRO-MANUFACTURING, PRO-GROWTH AGENDA WHILE ENCOURAGING RECOGNITION OF MANUFACTURING'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WELL BEING OF THE NATION.

WOMEN IN MANUFACTURING -THE STEP AHEAD WOMEN'S INITIATIVE IS THE NATION'S MARQUEE PROGRAM TO CLOSE THE GENDER GAP IN MANUFACTURING. STEP WORKS TO FOSTER A 21ST CENTURY MANUFACTURING WORKFORCE BY HONORING AND PROMOTING THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY THROUGH RECOGNITION, RESEARCH AND LEADERSHIP, AS WELL AS BY EMPOWERING ALUMNAE TO PAY IT FORWARD BY MENTORING AND INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION. THE MANUFACTURING INSTITUTE'S STEP AHEAD AWARDS CELEBRATE WOMEN WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND PRODUCTION CAREERS. BY TELLING THE REAL STORIES OF THESE WOMEN, WE WILL DEMONSTRATE LEADERSHIP AND OPPORTUNITIES IN A DIVERSITY OF MANUFACTURING CAREERS AND USE THEM TO INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION OF TALENT TO PURSUE CAREERS IN THE INDUSTRY.

HEROES MAKE AMERICA- IS AN INITIATIVE TO BUILD A PIPELINE FROM THE MILITARY TO MANUFACTURING. OUR SIGNATURE PROGRAM IS A FULL-TIME CAREER SKILLS PROGRAM AIMED AT CONNECTING MANUFACTURERS WITH HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES AND ARMING THOSE TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS WITH THE EXACT IN-DEMAND QUALIFICATIONS AND INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC CERTIFICATIONS THEY NEED TO NOT ONLY FIND A PERFECT MANUFACTURING CAREER BUT EXCEL IN IT.

DATA- THE MANUFACTURING INSTITUTE IS LEADING A PROJECT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL STUDENT CLEARINGHOUSE AND THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU TO MATCH ATTAINMENT RECORDS FROM INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION PROVIDERS WITH EDUCATION AND LABOR MARKET DATA. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO IDENTIFY THE EDUCATION PATHWAYS AND CREDENTIAL COMBINATIONS THAT LEAD TO EMPLOYMENT AND CAREER SUCCESS. IT IS ALSO INTENDED TO CREATE THE PROCESSES AND SYSTEMS THAT CAN SCALE TO ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION PROVIDERS.
