M.O.M.I.E implements a unique 3-pronged educational change strategy to address ourchildrens urgent needs and achieve our mission. We provide high-quality direct servicesthat are innovative, help to increase academic success and are culturally enriching.
M.O.M.I.Es Safe Haven Summer Camp combats summer learning loss and strengthen key social and emotional competencies. Below are the following areas we focus on: Culture-based learning, Academic Development, Meditation and Leadership Development, Field Trips, Community Enrichment, Sports and Recreation, and Life Skills. The Safe Haven SUmmer Camp engages over 100 children and youth at 2 sites in Washington, DC and Prince Georges County, MD.
M.O.M.I.Es Family Services Program engages 13 families that are eligible for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program. These families participate in seminars and workshops that are geared towards helping them navigate through life without dependency of the TANF Program. Workshops include but are not limited to Mental Health, Financial Literacy, Healthy Eating, and Family Time to name a few.
M.O.M.I.Es After School Program is currently based at one site in Washington, DC engaging 35 children and youth, ages 3 to 12. The After School Program makes a long-term investment in the lives of our families, providing holistic and unique learning support and opportunities to nurture our childrens genius and put them on a life-long path to success, through homework assistance, social emotional learning, and life enrichment skills.
