Organizations Filed Purposes: MSI United States offers US individuals and organizations the opportunity to help vulnerable women and adolescents worldwide have children by choice, not chance, through access to safe and confidential contraception and other reproductive health services. MSI United States is a qualified 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(3) Type I supporting organization of Marie Stopes International (MSI), based in the UK.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT TO MARIE STOPES INTERNATIONAL FOR EXPANDING DELIVERY OF GLOBAL FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES: In 2019, MSI United States supported MSI's programs in over 27 countries and contributed significantly to the following organizational impact: 32 million women were using a method of contraception provided by MSI; 13.1 million unintended pregnancies were prevented; 6.5 million unsafe abortions avoided; and over 34,500 maternal deaths averted. MSI services contributed to the efforts of public sector strengthening by delivering over 2.7 million services to women in support of local public health ministries. MSI's medical teams travel millions of miles each year to give rural women and girls access to modern contraceptive methods. Over 74% of MSIs services reach those most in need. The contributions made through MSI United States helps the poorest and most vulnerable women and girls in some of the most remote communities across sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

MSI SUPPORT - EXPANDING DELIVERY OF GLOBAL FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES IN AFRICA: In 2019 MSI strengthened its impact in Africa, particularly in the Sahel, a region with high unmet need for contraception. MSI expanded its service reach into the DRC, working in one of the most impoverished and conflict-ridden nations. Across Africa, MSI deployed 28 outreach teams, operated 10 centers, engaged more than 200 franchisees. MSI employs over 4,600 local staff members in the region. The MS Ladies program empowers midwives and nurses as entrepreneurs to deliver quality family planning services in their communities. The impact of climate change is evident in the communities where MSI works. MSI is a champion in the efforts to bring services to the women and girls in these communities who are bearing a disproportionate share of the burden of providing and caring for the family.

MSI SUPPORT - EXPANDING DELIVERY OF GLOBAL FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES IN ASIA: MSI continues to expand access to reproductive health information and services in Asia and works with governments to develop community-based health financing solutions. MSI programs include training and empowering maternal and reproductive health providers and delivering onsite family planning programs and contraceptive services in factories where women work. A strong community-based program to inform local businesses about MSIs services helps direct clients in need to our clinics for safe and reliable care. MSI actively works with religious leaders and country staff to expand access to services in many challenging environments, including Yemen and Afghanistan.
