O) (CONTINUED FROM PAGE 2) CARE FOR CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, ADULTS, AND OLDER ADULTS WITH MENTAL AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS.
TO ADVOCATE FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND REPRESENT PROVIDER SYSTEMS THAT ARE COMMITTED TO PREVENTION, TREATMENT, AND CARE FOR THOSE WITH MENTAL AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS.
LEGISLATION: NABH MONITORS THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF LEGISLATION AFFECTING THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INDUSTRY. THE ASSOCIATION WORKS WITH THE US CONGRESS AND VARIOUS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO EDUCATE POLICYMAKERS ON BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ISSUES AND THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO DELIVER QUALITY CARE.
REGULATORY: A GROWING PART OF THE ASSOCIATION'S ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES RELATE TO ADMINISTRATIVE AND REGULATORY INITIATIVES BY VARIOUS FEDERAL AGENCIES, INCLUDING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AND THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES. THESE AGENCIES PROVIDE FUNDING AND OVERSIGHT TO THE ASSOCIATION'S MEMBERSHIP. AS PART OF THE ASSOCIATION'S ADVOCACY WORK, IT IS NECESSARY TO CLOSELY MONITOR AND INTERACT WITH THESE FEDERAL AGENCIES TO ENSURE THAT THE MEMBERSHIP'S INTERESTS ARE WELL REPRESENTED. IN RECENT YEARS, THE NUMBER OF REGULATIONS AND OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES PURSUED BY FEDERAL AGENCIES HAS GROWN EXPONENTIALLY, AND THAT IS WHY THE ASSOCIATION HAS PUT MORE EMPHASIS ON THIS AREA OF ADVOCACY.
COMMUNICATIONS: NABH PRODUCES A WEEKLY NEWSLETTER AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS FOR MEMBERS AND EXTERNAL AUDIENCES.
