Organizations Filed Purposes:
NAMD's mission is to represent the non-partisan views of state medicaid program in the federal policy process, serve as a focal point of communication between the states and the federal government, provide information networking among the states on issues pertinent to the medicaid program, support directors in effectively administering and transforming medicaid programs to improve the health outcomes of the populations they serve, and leverage and promote expertise across states to improve state medicaid program, policies, and operations.
NAMD's mission is to support Medicaid Directors in administering the program in cost-effective, efficient and visionary ways that enable the over 70 million Americans served by Medicaid to achieve their best health and to thrive in their communities.
Technical Assistance: Conducted technical assistance calls and webinars, open to all members assembled membership into different issue area working groups for issue discussions and to liaise with a range of partners and stakeholders. Conducted check-in calls with each medicaid director on their programs and priorities published a weekly newsletter of critical issues and news of the day, developed analysis and issue papers for distribution to the members.
Conferences and Leadership Programs:Conducted a Spring membership conference in June 2019 and a Fall conference in November 2019. Conducted all planning, agenda development and follow-up activities related to the state-only meeting of NAMD members and senior staff. During the conference there were several meetings, and board discussion related to important organizational business. Attendance at the Spring meeting was approximately 120 representing more than 53 states and territories. Attendance at the Fall Meeting was approximately 1,200.Portfolio focusing on leadership development and capacity building for Medicaid directors, their senior staff, and agency managers. The goal of the effort is to invest in leadership development opportunities for Medicaid directors and other agency officials to provide a strong foundation as they tackle the intricate work of running a state Medicaid agency. Conducted leadership training for new Medicaid directors and their senior staff as well as new director orientations.
