Paris Accords of Science Communication: This 4-day training for 25 U.S. and European journalists was held October 2019 in Paris, France. The journalists met with scientific experts to explore urgent issues such as the neuroscience of hate, social determinants of health, childhood trauma and the lasting impact of torture. The training included twenty-three experts and two field trips.
Understanding Fishing and Conservation Challenges: This 5-day training for 20 journalists was held March 2019 in San Francisco and Monterey, California. The journalists learned about forces that are putting pressure on oceans and the marine life within them. The training included thirty experts in twenty-one sessions and included four field trips.
Reporting on Criminal Justice: For three days in November 2019, twenty journalists were trained by the National Press Foundation on issues surrounding the U.S. criminal justice system. The reporters then used this expertise by staying in San Francisco and covering the American Society of Criminology annual conference for three additional days.
