THE NAVAL HISTORICAL FOUNDATION (NHF) HAS SERVED PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE HISTORY OF THE U.S. NAVY'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO AMERICA'S MARITIME HISTORY AND HERITAGE SINCE MARCH OF 1926. OUR MISSION IS TO PRESERVE AND HONOR THE LEGACY OF THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US, AND EDUCATE AND INSPIRE THE GENERATIONS THAT FOLLOW. NHF INCREASES AWARENESS THROUGH: YOUTH AND AWARD PROGRAMS; FORUMS, SYMPOSIUMS, AND HERITAGE EVENTS; AND DEEP-SEA EXPLORATION OF THE MARITIME DOMAIN, BRINGING NAVAL HISTORY AND SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY TO LIFE.

ANCILLARY ACTIVITIES - NHF ARRANGES FOR HISTORICAL FURNITURE ITEMS TO BE AVAILABLE FOR DISPLAY AND USE THROUGHOUT THE TINGEY HOUSE (CNO'S QUARTERS) FOR SOCIAL AND FORMAL GATHERINGS. NHF PROVIDES INFORMATIONAL SERVICES TO ORGANIZATIONS, FAMILIES AND OTHERS SEEKING GUIDANCE RELATED TO HISTORICAL NAVAL DOCUMENTS, ARTIFACTS, PHOTOS ETC. NHF OPERATES A GIFT SHOP AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE U.S. NAVY IN SUPPORT OF THE MUSEUM AND TO HEIGHTEN THE VISITOR EXPERIENCE.
PROGRAMS - NHF'S PROGRAMS FOCUS ON MAKING ORGANIZATIONAL RESOURCES BETTER KNOWN AND MORE WIDELY AVAILABLE. NHF MAINTAINS THE NAVYHISTORY.ORG WEBSITE AND SUPPORTS OTHER MARITIME WEBSITES IN SUPPORT OF NAVAL HISTORY MUSEUMS. NHF ALSO HOSTS SIGNATURE EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO BUILD AWARENESS OF NAVAL HISTORY HERITAGE PROGRAMS. RECENT EVENTS INCLUDED AN OFFICIAL FIVE-STAR MESS NIGHT, SUPERINTENDENT'S (USNA) LEADERSHIP & VISION AWARD'S DINNER, BATTLE OF LEYTE GULF 75TH ANNIVERSARY SYMPOSIUM, SECRETARY OF THE NAVY RECEPTION, KNOX AWARD DINNER, AND CENTER FOR STRATEGIC & INTERNATIONAL STUDIES SYMPOSIUM.NHF SECURED A DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR GRANT TO DIGITIZE THE FIRST 13 VOLUMES OF NAVAL DOCUMENTS FROM THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION.
MEMBERSHIP - THIS INCLUDES ONGOING COMMUNICATIONS TO CURRENT MEMBERS AND OUTREACH TO PROSPECTIVE NEW MEMBERS.
