PROMOTE FEDERAL AND STATE LEGISLATION THAT SUPPORTS RESPONSIBLE NONPROFIT OPERATIONS AND PROTECT NONPROFIT INTERESTS THROUGH EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND LOBBYING ACTIVITIES. THIS INCLUDES RETAINING A GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS CONSULTANT TO ADDRESS FEDERAL ISSUES IN WASHINGTON, DC AND, FROM TIME TO TIME, RETAINER LOBBYISTS AT THE STATE LEVEL WHEN ISSUES MERIT. PRIORITY ISSUES IN 2020 WERE INCLUSION OF 501(C) ORGANIZATIONS IN THE FEDERAL COVID-19 RELIEF ACT PROVISIONS AND REINTRODUCING A UNIVERSAL CHARITABLE DEDUCTION FOR ALL DONORS, REGARDLESS OF INCOME LEVEL. BY REPRESENTING THE INTERESTS OF NONPROFITS AND THE BUSINESSES THAT SERVE THEM, THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE IS PROVIDING A SERVICE TO OUR MEMBERS AND THE SECTOR AT LARGE.CREATE PLATFORMS FOR NONPROFIT SECTOR PROFESSIONALS TO CONNECT, LEARN, AND NETWORK. FROM FACILITATED SMALL GROUP SESSIONS TO OPEN TOWN HALLS, THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE IS A SPACE FOR SENIOR LEADERS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS TO GATHER TO EXCHANGE IDEAS AND CROWDSOURCE SOLUTIONS TO COMMON ISSUES. THIS WAS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT IN 2020 IN THE FACE OF UNPRECEDENTED CHALLENGES AND CANCELLATION OF NORMAL FACE-TO-FACE EVENTS WHERE SIMILAR ACTIVITY COULD HAPPEN. THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE HOSTED NUMEROUS VIRTUAL PROGRAMS SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONNECTING PEOPLE FOR DISCUSSIONS ON REACTIVE AND PROACTIVE STRATEGIES TO MANAGE UNFAMILIAR CHALLENGES AND LEVERAGE NEW OPPORTUNITIES.CONTINUE THE CRITICAL WORK OF LONGSTANDING ASSOCIATIONS AND NETWORKS WHOSE VALUES AND MEMBERSHIP ALIGN WITH THOSE OF THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE. THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SMALLER, SPECIALIZED 501(C) ORGANIZATIONS TO RE-ORGANIZE AS COUNCILS WITHIN THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE. THIS ORGANIZATIONAL CONSOLIDATION STRENGTHENS THEIR PROGRAMS AND OFFERS GREATER EFFICIENCIES AND MEMBERSHIP REACH. IN 2020, THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE INCREASED THE ACTIVITIES OF THE CATHOLIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL AND THE ADRFCO COUNCIL, BOTH OF WHICH REORGANIZED UNDER THE NONPROFIT ALLIANCE IN MID-2019.
