Pharmaceutical Product Stewardship Work Group is a non-profit membership association of over 400 member and affiliated companies, which are producers of branded and generic prescription and non-prescription pharmaceutical products, and of sharps. ppswg was incorporated in march 2014 under the laws of the district of Columbia. ppwsg operates for the purpose consistent with recognition of exempt status under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(6), which includes developing consensus and a framework for complying with local and state household-generated unwanted pharmaceutical product stewardship legislation, and raising awareness about appropriate disposal methods for unwanted Pharmaceutical products and sharps.

Communication and Program Administration: PPSWG provides a forum to develop consensus and a framework for addressing compliance with household-generated unwanted pharmaceutical product stewardship legislation through active member engagement. PPSWG raises public awareness about appropriate disposal methods for unwanted pharmaceutical products and sharps. Med-Project llc provides program management services.

Collection and Disposal: MED-Project LLC was established to develop, implement and operate community level pharmaceutical product stewardship take-back programs in compliance with and as mandated by legislation, as well as program activities performed on a discretionary basis as requested or approved by PPSWG. These activities may include, but are not limited to: (i) public outreach and education to patients, health care providers, and other relevant stakeholders on the safe storage of medications and the appropriate, safe and secure disposal of household generated unwanted pharmaceutical products; (ii) the collection and disposal of household-generated unwanted pharmaceutical products; and (iii) program administration related to and required by (i) and (ii) above.
