Organizations Filed Purposes: Physicians for Fair Coverage (PFC) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that advocates on behalf physicians and their patients to create stronger patient protections, ensure access to care and improve transparency in the health care system.

Advocacy organization to improve patient protections and End The Surprise Insurance Gap- See Part III

In 2020, PFC supports state legislative efforts to end surprise billing with strong patient protections by taking the patient out of the middle of disputes between insurers and physicians, applying patient out-of-pocket expenses at the in-network rate for unexpected out-of-network services, ensuring access to care through fair reimbursement and a proven mechanism for appeal for physicians and insurers, and improving transparency for both patients and physicians. Working closely with local physician and patient groups, as well as other stakeholders, we build coalitions, engage grassroots and implement integrated public relations to educate andadvocate.

Membership: PFC is comprised of tens of thousands of physicians from a variety of specialties who annually serve millions of patients in thousands of facilities nationwide. Members are strong patient advocates, agree any billing disputes should remain between themselves and insurers and can fairly be resolved through a proven appeals process, and do not balance bill in their practices.
