Organizations Filed Purposes: Project Create provides accessible arts education to promote positive development in children, youth and families experiencing homelessness and poverty. Together with our communitiy partners and in our own studio, Project Create works to create art, opportunity and create community in the lives of our students and their families.

Project Create provides accessible arts education to promote positive development in children, youth and families experiencing homelessness and poverty.

At two Anacostia art studios, Project Create offers daily in-person and virtual arts courses all year long for over 200 students, based on an innovative curriculum that combines multi-disciplinary arts education with social-emotional learning and a positive youth development framework. Courses include visual, performing and digital media arts instruction, along with open studio time for motivated, advanced- level students. Classes are taught by local experienced, professional artists and art therapists who, as talented and engaging teachers, served as role models to underserved children and youth. All programs are free for children, youth and families. digital media arts where D.C.'s East of the River teen students can learn to combine art and tech- nology, mixing their unique voices through film, photography, illustration, 3D design and music.

Project Create's longest-running program includes weekly multi-disciplinary arts education classes in partnership with community-based organizations such as housing providers, low-income/Section 8 housing, community centers, Department of Parks and Recreation, D.C. Public and Public Charter Schools, mentorship organizations, and more. Project Create programs, which incorporate art therapy, provide mental health and emotional support to children, youth and families experiencing homelessness and poverty in Washington, DC. Class are taught by art therapists and experienced teaching artists who utilize art as a tool for healing and growth. This program serves approximately 300 students a year.

Two Saturdays a month, we host local families in artistic exploration, art-making and creative play serving two (or three!) generations of family members, from infants to grandparents, all of whom enjoy the chance to create art in community. Led by an experienced art therapist, this program explores family connections, nature and the environment, history, community and more. Through Family Art Days, Project Create serves approximately 300 children and youth, along with their parents, each year. All programs are free to participants.
