STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN FIRSTHAND OBSERVATIONS OF THE POLICY-MAKING PROCESS, LECTURES, BRIEFINGS AND ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS WITH WOMEN LEADERS IN THE CONGRESS, COURTS, EXECUTIVE AGENCIES AND POLICY RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY ORGANIZATIONS.WOMEN IN STEM POLICY: INCLUDES A 5-DAY SEMINAR FOR COLLEGE WOMEN MAJORING IN THE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH (STEM). THE SEMINAR'S GOALS ARE TO INCREASE STUDENTS' UNDERSTANDING OF THE PUBLIC POLICY DIMENSIONS OF THE STEM FIELDS AND PREPARE WOMEN FOR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION AS CITIZEN LEADERS IN PUBLIC DEBATE AND DECISION-MAKING ON STEM ISSUES. STUDENTS LEARN FROM WOMEN LEADERS IN THE FIELDS OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH; DISCUSS PUBLIC POLICY ISSUES RELATING TO SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY; AND LEARN HOW PUBLIC POLICIES AFFECTING SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY ARE SHAPED.WOMEN IN GLOBAL POLICY: INCLUDES A 5-DAY SEMINAR TO EDUCATE COLLEGE WOMEN ABOUT POLICIES AFFECTING THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY. STUDENTS ATTEND LECTURES AND BRIEFINGS ON CURRENT FOREIGN POLICY ISSUES AND PARTICIPATE IN ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS WITH WOMEN LEADERS WHO ARE MAKING AND INFLUENCING INTERNATIONAL POLICY.WOMEN, LAW AND LEGAL ADVOCACY PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES A 3-DAY EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR FOR WOMEN INTERESTED IN PURSUING CAREERS IN THE LAW AND LEGAL ADVOCACY, FROM ISSUE-BASED ADVOCACY TO GOVERNMENT SERVICE. STUDENTS EXPLORE THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN LEGAL CAREERS AND THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS IN WASHINGTON, D.C. WHILE LEARNING THE POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF ATTENDING LAW SCHOOL FROM WOMEN WHO WORK IN POLICY EVERY DAY.WOMEN IN HEALTH POLICY PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES A 3-DAY EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR FOR WOMEN INTERESTED IN PURSUING CAREERS IN THE FIELDS OF HEALTH POLICY, INCLUDING ROLES AT NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, CORPORATIONS, AND WITHIN VARIOUS GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. BY HEARING FROM WOMEN WHO WORK ON HEALTH POLICY EVERY DAY, STUDENTS LEARN THE NUTS-AND-BOLTS OF HOW POLICY IS MADE AND HOW THEY CAN AFFECT CHANGE ACROSS A VARIETY OF HEALTH-RELATED ISSUES.WOMEN AND CONGRESS: THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES A 5-DAY EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR FOR WOMEN CONSIDERING CAREERS IN POLICY OR POLITICS. THEY ARE TAUGHT ABOUT PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN AND RELATED TO CONGRESS, FROM LOBBYING TO WORKING ON A SENATE HOUSE COMMITTEE, TO RUNNING FOR OFFICE THEMSELVES. WITH THE HELP OF SENIOR AND MID-LEVEL WOMEN WHO HAVE LAUNCHED POLICY CAREERS, PARTICIPANTS LEARN ABOUT THE LEGISLATIVE AND POLITICAL PROCESSES, EXPLORE HOT-BUTTON ISSUES ON THE HILL, AND EXPAND THEIR NETWORKS.
