The mission of the organization is to achieve international recognition of the importance of the Sargasso Sea and to develop protection measures for it through
1. Continue to work with the ten Governments that have signed the Hamilton Declaration on Collaboration for the Conservation of the Sargasso Sea, namely the Azores, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Monaco, UK and US; 2. UN General Assembly Resolution (2019) noted our work; 3. Continued to work with the Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) on conservation of Anguillid Eels that spawn in the Sargasso Sea. Hosted a Third Meeting of European Eel Range States in 2019; 4. Continued to work with the Ecosystem Subcommittee of the Standing Committee on Research and Statistics (SCRS) of the International Convention on the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) and other competent international organizations.
