Small Business Majority is a national small business advocacy organization, founded by small business owners to ensure that small businesses are at the heart of a thriving, inclusive economy. We actively engage small business owners across America to drive smart public policy and get entrepreneurs the resources they need to thrive.
Support America's 28 million small businesses via public policy advocacy and practical resources.
Outreach & Education - We conduct outreach from our offices in Washington, DC, California, Colorado, Illinois, and Missouri. We educate and seek feedback on access to capital, healthcare, taxes, retirement, paid leave, workforce, and other policies directly impacting entrepreneurship from our network of 65,000 small business owners and more than 1,000 business organizations. We are advised by a national network council of active small business owners. We combine these outreach and education activities with our research to drive our communications program.
Communication - We communicate our message to policymakers and the media via extensive public relations efforts targeting mainstream electronic, print, and online media. Our work includes one-on-one communication, statements, op-eds, letters to the editor, multiple web sites, a regular e-newsletter, and daily communication via a host of social media channels. We testify before national and state legislative committees when invited, and we regularly brief policymakers and their staffs about our research, often using our network of small business owners to provide a real world perspective. We also place online advertisments, and on occasion, we place paid media in TV, radio, and print publications.
Research - We conduct extensive scientific polling, focus groups, roundatble discussions, and economic research to determine the opinions, concerns, and needs of small business owners regarding a multitude of issues including healthcare, clean energy, taxes, access to capital, financial reform, and workforce development. We use this research to better understand small business needs and to educate and inform policymakers, the media, and other stakeholders who are seeking to understand these complex policy issues.
