SOLSMART: THE SOLAR FOUNDATION (THE FOUNDATION) MAINTAINED ITS STATUS AS THE PREEMINENT PROVIDER OF SOLAR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS THROUGH ITS LEADERSHIP OF THE SOLSMART PROGRAM. FUNDED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S SOLAR ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES OFFICE (SETO) AND PUBLICLY LAUNCHED IN 2016, SOLSMART PROVIDES NATIONAL RECOGNITION AND NO-COST TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO MUNICIPALITIES AND COUNTIES SEEKING TO TAKE STEPS TO MAKE IT FASTER, EASIER, AND MORE AFFORDABLE FOR RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES TO INSTALL SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEMS. COMMUNITIES USE THIS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO ACHIEVE SPECIFIC CRITERIA UNDER THE SOLSMART PROGRAM, AND RECEIVE DESIGNATIONS AT THE BRONZE, SILVER, OR GOLD LEVELS. THE SOLSMART PROGRAM DESIGNATED OVER 300 COMMUNITIES FROM THE PROGRAM START THROUGH THE END OF 2019.

SOLAR TRAINING NETWORK: THE SOLAR FOUNDATION SERVES AS THE NATIONAL ADMINISTRATOR OF THE SOLAR READY VETS NETWORK (SRVN). FUNDED BY THE US DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY SOLAR ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES OFFICE (SETO), THE SOLAR READY VETS NETWORK CONNECTS TRANSITIONING MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS OF THE US ARMED FORCES WITH SOLAR INDUSTRY TRAINING, CREDENTIALING AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. THROUGH DIRECT IMPACT TRAINING ACTIVITIES, CAPACITY BUILDING INITIATIVES AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS, SRVN EXPANDS AND STRENGTHENS SOLAR CAREER PATHWAYS FOR VETERANS AND ADVANCES A NATIONWIDE PIPELINE OF MILITARY TALENT INTO TECHNICAL AND LEADERSHIP ROLES IN THE AMERICAN SOLAR WORKFORCE. THE SRVN TEAM HAS SECURED REQUISITE APPROVALS FOR SOLAR CERTIFICATIONS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR GI BILL BENEFITS, SEVERAL TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS HAVE BEEN PLACED IN WORK-BASED LEARNING WITH SOLAR EMPLOYERS, AND INDUSTRY-EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS ARE UNDERWAY TO IMPROVE LOCALIZED TRAINING AND HIRING OUTCOMES IN HIGH-DEMAND MARKETS.

SOLAR JOBS CENSUS: THE FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL NATIONAL SOLAR JOBS CENSUS REPORT OFFERS THE MOST AUTHORITATIVE AND COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF SOLAR LABOR MARKET TRENDS IN THE UNITED STATES. THE NATIONAL SOLAR JOBS CENSUS PROVIDES SOLAR JOB NUMBERS NATIONWIDE AND STATE BY STATE, AS WELL AS A DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE SOLAR WORKFORCE IN EACH INDUSTRY SECTOR. IT ALSO INCLUDES DATA ON SOLAR WORKFORCE DEMOGRAPHICS AND DIVERSITY. THE FOUNDATION RELEASED ITS NINTH ANNUAL NATIONAL SOLAR JOBS IN EARLY 2019.
