THE MISSION OF UNITED STATES OF CARE (THE ORGANIZATION) IS TO ENSURE THAT EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN HAS ACCESS TO QUALITY, AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE REGARDLESS OF HEALTH STATUS, SOCIAL NEED, OR INCOME. A NON-PARTISAN NON-PROFIT, WE ARE BUILDING AND MOBILIZING A MOVEMENT TO ACHIEVE LONG-LASTING SOLUTIONS THAT MAKE HEALTH CARE BETTER FOR EVERYONE. THE ORGANIZATION WILL HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN BY WORKING WITH AMERICANS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY: PATIENTS AND CAREGIVERS, ADVOCATES, PHYSICIANS AND OTHER CLINICIANS, POLICYMAKERS, AND BUSINESS, CIVIC, AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS.

POLICY - IN 2019, UNITED STATES OF CARE PRODUCED A WIDE RANGE OF RESOURCES FOR POLICYMAKERS TO HELP MAKE HEALTH CARE MORE AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL. THE ORGANIZATION PRODUCED ANALYSIS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS, INCLUDING BRIEFS ON HEALTH CARE AFFORDABILITY, AND A "PLAYBOOK", DEDICATED WEBSITE, AND EXPLAINER VIDEO ON MEDICAID BUY-IN AND OTHER STATE CARE COVERAGE OPTIONS.THE ORGANIZATION LAUNCHED BUILDING BLOCKS OF HEALTH REFORM, A NEW INITIATIVE TO HELP PEOPLE AND POLICYMAKERS UNDERSTAND AND SOLVE KEY POLICY QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE ANSWERED IN ANY PROPOSAL TO EXPAND ACCESS TO CARE AND IMPROVE OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO BROUGHT TOGETHER OVER 150 EVERYDAY PEOPLE, POLICY EXPERTS, LAWMAKERS, ENTREPRENEURS, PATIENTS, AND ADVOCATES FOR A TWO DAY CONVENING EVENT TO HIGHLIGHT THE MOST PRESSING HEALTH CARE CHALLENGES AND DISCUSS INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO DRIVE REAL CHANGE.
STATE AFFAIRS - IN 2019, UNITED STATES OF CARE EXPANDED ITS STATE WORK BOTH BROADENING AND DEEPENING RELATIONSHIPS WITH EXECUTIVE BRANCH OFFICIALS, LEGISLATORS, ADVOCACY PARTNERS, AND OTHER HEALTH CARE STAKEHOLDERS. THE ORGANIZATION'S WORK IN STATES INCLUDES PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND EXPERTISE, STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS, COALITION BUILDING, AND TACTICAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT. THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTED OUTREACH AND PROVIDED RESOURCES IN MORE THAN 30 STATES, AND MORE THAN DOUBLED ITS IN DEPTH STATE ENGAGEMENTS TO FIVE. IN ADDITION TO CONTINUING TO SUPPORT PARTNERS IN NEW MEXICO TO PASS A MEDICAID BUY-IN AND CONVENE A BIPARTISAN, BICAMERAL GROUP OF HEALTH CARE LEGISLATIVE LEADERS IN MINNESOTA, THE ORGANIZATION BEGAN WORK IN CONNECTICUT, COLORADO AND GEORGIA. WORK IN COLORADO AND CONNECTICUT INCLUDED SUPPORTING EFFORTS TO DEVELOP PUBLIC OPTION PROPOSALS THROUGH PUBLIC OPINION WORK, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND TACTICAL, STRATEGIC SUPPORT. IN GEORGIA, THE ORGANIZATION IS PART OF A BROADER COALITION WORKING TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH PARITY IN THE STATE.IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION PARTNERED WITH THE AMHERST H. WILDER FOUNDATION, GUIDED BY A STEERING COMMITTEE MADE UP OF HEALTH CARE CEOS AND AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE THAT INCLUDED HEALTH EQUITY EXPERTS, TO COMPLETE A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF EXISTING EFFORTS TO ELIMINATE DISPARITIES IN HEALTH OUTCOMES IN MINNESOTA. THE ORGANIZATION WILL WORK ON AN IMPLEMENTATION PLAN IN 2020.
COMMUNICATIONS - IN 2019, THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED A STRONG INTRODUCTION TO STATE AND NATIONAL MEDIA, TO OUR PARTNERS AND SUPPORTERS, AS WELL AS TO THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW OUR ORGANIZATION. WE SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED TWO LARGE NEW INITIATIVES, GAINING EXTERNAL INTEREST AND AWARENESS, ONE OF WHICH INCLUDED ITS OWN MICRO-WEBSITE. OUR TEAMS PRODUCE RESOURCES TO ADVANCE OUR MISSION INCLUDING PLAYBOOKS, EXPLAINER VIDEOS, POLICY BRIEFS, OPEDS, AND ACADEMIC PAPERS WITH PARTNERS. WE ADDED 34 PEOPLE TO OUR FOUNDER'S COUNCIL, 2.7M SOCIAL MEDIA IMPRESSIONS, AND 9.6K NEW TWITTER FOLLOWERS. WE ALSO EXPANDED OUR PUBLIC OPINION RESEARCH, INCLUDING ON THE TOPICS OF MEDICAID BUY-IN SUPPORT IN NEW MEXICO AND A STATE COVERAGE OPTION IN COLORADO.WE ALSO CONDUCTED AN EXTENSIVE SOCIAL LISTENING SCAN THAT INFORMED THE LAUNCH OF ONE OF OUR SIGNATURE INITIATIVES: REAL PEOPLE. REAL TALK, A CORNERSTONE OF OUR PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT WORK TO CENTER THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE IN POLICYMAKING. IN ADDITION, WE LAUNCHED THE VOICES OF REAL LIFE, A DIVERSE GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO ADVISE AND GUIDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR WORK. THE ORGANIZATION WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD OUR EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS WORK AND PEOPLE-CENTERED LENS IN 2020.
