The Legacy Awards recognize and honor the best in Black literature through an annual juried competition. Independent judges vote on submission in the categories of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. The foundation also hosts two competitions for unpublished writers, the College Awards for fiction and poetry and Crossover Award for nonfiction.
