TO DELIVER AND STEWARD PERMANENTLY AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROXIMATE TO THE ATLANTA BELTLINE AND OTHER TARGETED AREAS IN THE CITY OF ATLANTA.
The primary focus for the Atlanta Land Trust in 2019 was building a sizable portfolio of permanently affordable housing. ALT was successful in cultivating relationships with for-profit and non-profit development partners who are committed to incorporating CLT units into their developments. At the end of 2019, ALT had closed on the sale of three homes, completed construction on an additional eight homes and grew its pipeline to 60 units which are expected to be delivered within the next year or two. The objective of this activity to is provide permanently affordable housing for low-income Atlantans.
ALT worked to expand awareness and understanding of ALT and the community land trust model. In 2019, a Stewardship Manager was hired to focus on marketing and community outreach with the goal of educating and building trust with communities around the Atlanta BeltLine where units will be created. This will allow ALT to begin to build a pipeline of prospective homebuyers who understand the benefits and tradeoffs associated with participation in a CLT. In 2019 ALT hosted 15 monthly Community Information Sessions and real estate agent trainings. Staff also attended over 30 community meetings.
ALT is working to create a favorable environment for CLT development by promoting public policy.
