THE MISSION OF THE EPILEPSY FOUNDATION OF GEORGIA IS TO LEAD THE FIGHT TO OVERCOME THE CHALLENGES OF LIVING WITH EPILEPSY AND TO ACCELERATE THERAPIES TO STOP SEIZURES, FIND CURES, AND SAVE LIVES.
Event Results:- The organization held the 2019 Magnolia Run and Walk for Epilepsy. It celebrated its 36th year hosting the event, had 1,400 participants with 71 teams, and raised just over $118,000. - The 2020 Taste of Love Gala was held at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, raising just under $430,000 and attended by 345 of Atlanta's finest citizens. -The organization offered studioE to 10 participants for 8 weeks. Studio is an art therapy program that meets weekly through the summer. Participants are provided a safe space to express themselves through different art forms and connect with others who are also living with epilepsy. -2019 epilepsy community forum was held for the 3rd year in November, attending by just over 100 people. sponsorships for this event totaled $13,500-In the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, Epilepsy foundation of Georgia (EFGA) implemented virtual support groups. April 2020: We began offering a virtual support group for patients. The first meeting hosted 23 individuals. May 2020: we added a caregiver group, as well as the patient group. The caregiver group hosted 10 people and the patient group hosted 17 people. June 2020: we had a NP present the basics of epilepsy for the patient group. The caregiver group hosted 8 people and the patient group (NP presentation) hosted 23 people.EFGA will continue to offer monthly virtual support groups for the foreseeable future.
EF Works Employment Services:During the 2019-2020 fiscal year the EFWorks program staff worked diligently to increase total enrollment in the program to 217, with 12 who are actively seeking employment and have a total of 65 clients placed in the lifetime of the program. In the midst of the pandemic, enrollment in EFWorks and job placement have been occurring. -March 2020 5 placements-April 2020 4 new clients, 3 placements-June 2020 1 new client, 3 placementsDue to virtual abilities we are now accepting clients outside of the metro area, including Augusta, Savannah, Statesboro, Valdosta, Americus and a few other small rural areas.
the 2019-2020 educational programming reached 1,907 people and has 37 programs in Georgia schools for faculty, staff and school nurses.
