MINT'S MISSION IS TO MAKE ATLANTA A DESTINATION FOR THE ARTS: A CULTURAL HUB WHERE ARTISTS THRIVE, PATRONS EXPERIENCE TRANSFORMATIVE WORK, AND COMMUNITIES ARE ACTIVATED AND ENGAGED.
LEAP YEAR IS MINT'S FLAGSHIP PROGRAM, HAVING SERVED 20 ARTISTS SINCE 2011. EACH YEAR A SELECTION PANEL OF ATLANTA ARTS LEADERS REVIEW APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED BY OVER 50 VISUAL ARTISTS FROM ACROSS THE CITY. THE PANEL SELECTS FIVE DIVERSE, EMERGING ARTISTS FROM THE ATLANTA AREA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE YEAR-LONG FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM. MINT PROVIDES THE ARTISTS WITH: DEDICATED STUDIO SPACE FOR SIX MONTHS; A TWO-WEEK RESIDENCY AT THE HAMBRIDGE CENTER; OPPORTUNITIES FOR PUBLIC ART AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT; COMPLIMENTARY MEMBERSHIPS TO C4 ATLANTA, ATLANTA CONTEMPORARY, AND MOCA GA; STUDIO VISITS WITH RENOWED GUESTS CURATORS AND CRITICS; AN ESTABLISHED ATLANTA-BASED ARTIST TO SERVE AS A MENTOR; AND A SOLO EXHIBITION. ALL ARTISTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN OUR RESIDENCY PROGRAM ARE PAID A CASH STIPEND.
MINT IS PROUD TO OFFER UP TO 25 EXHIBITIONS A YEAR. THESE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO OUR ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITION FOR EMERGING ARTISTS, OUR TWICE-YEARLY POSTCARD PIN-UP SHOWS, AND OUR ANNUAL INVITATIONAL. IN ADDITION TO THESE ONGOING EXHIBITIONS, MINT ALWAYS HAS AT LEAST ONE ACTIVE SHOW IN ONE OF ITS THREE GALLERY SPACES THROUGH OUT THE YEAR.
MINT'S INTERN PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO GIVE STUDENTS, ARTISTS, AND ASPIRING ARTS PROFESSIONALS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES IN A GALLERY AND ARTS NONPROFIT SETTING. MINTERNS WORK CLOSELY WITH MINT STAFF AND LEADERSHIP IN ALL AREAS OF THE ORGANIZATION, INCLUDING GALLERY MANAGEMENT, EXHIBITION INSTALLATION, SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY, FUNDRAISING AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT. MINTERNS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDIO ARTIST COMMUNITY, HAVE A SMALL STUDIO SPACE AT MINT, AND HAVE MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO SHOW THEIR WORK AT MINT INCLUDING A CULMINATING GROUP EXHIBITION. THE INTERN PROGRAM TIES INTO MINT'S MISSION TO SUPPORT AND ENGAGE THE CREATIVE COMMUNITY AT ALL LEVELS OF DEVELOPMENT.
