Organizations Filed Purposes: Raising Expectations'(RE) 360 degree approach focuses on developing underserved students from a holistic perspective which includes personal and life skill development, tutoring, mentoring, STEM exposure,college prep and hands on learning to improve college readiness.

RAISING EXPECTATIONS EMPOWERS YOUTH IN CRISIS BY ELEVATING ACADEMIC, SOCIAL AND CIVIC EXPECTATIONS TO FACILITATE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION AND POST-SECONDARY PLANS.

Program #1 - Project DREAM-APC Raising Expectations programs partnership with the Atlanta Police Foundation allowed the organization to serve 40 middle and high school students who attended the STEAM-based enrichment programs, academic tutorials, mentorship and college access coaching. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, standardized school exams and the organizations internal end-of-year assessments were terminated. However, the organization supported youths and families with weekly food baskets, unemployment assistance and finanial aid for utilities and housing rent. Program#2-Summer Pathfinder Programs Raising Expectations provided services to 28 Atlanta Public Schools students as part of its Summer Pathfinder Program. With funding from Atlanta Public Schools and United Way of Greater Atlanta, Raising Expectations converted its on-site curriculums to virtual learning curriculums to better serve more summer youths. Additional support and school supplies were provided to students to aid with the transition process and enforce the CDC safety guidelines. Program#3-Project D.R.E.A.M. and STEMWARE Project D.R.E.A.M (Developing Raised Expectations for Adolescent Minds) is geared toward providing education and learning opportunities to students in the 3rd grade to 8th grade to develop their skills. Project STEMWARE is designed to support students from the 9th grade to the 12th grade accademically with distance learning. WHile many organizations were forced to suspend programming and closed their doors due to the COVID-19 crises, the need for Raising Expectations project DREAM and STEMWARE programs grew exponentially. Raising Expectations provided financial assistance to youths an families to decrease food insecurity with grocery deliveries, reduced tthe lack of access to computers and internet with homeschooling and technology support and helped families affected by COVID-19 pandemic avoid housing eviction. In addition to providing financial assistance to families, the organization transitioned its tutoring and mentorship programs to a virtual environment to serve more than 135 youths. Over 42 volunteers commirrws 1,225 hours to Raising Espectation to provide tutoring, coaching and mentorship assistance to youths. With additional funding from partners like United Way of Greater Atlanta and BET, Raising Expectations provided 71 family units with COVID-19 related rental and utility financial aid to ensure that families could remain in their homes and keep their utilities on during the global pandemic. To date, Raising Expectations continues to provide financial aid and educational support to over 75% of youth and families.
