RESPITERight in the Community is proud to be the only facilities-based weekend Respite Program for Special Needs in Cobb County. Our home is located in Smyrna, Georgia. Respite is defined as a brief period of relief or rest from work, pain, duty, etc. Respite Care is a period of relief for families who have ongoing caregiving responsibilities for a child or adult with disabilities. Respite care can happen in the familys home, in the respite caregivers home, a community respite home, or a daycare program. It can be a natural outgrowth of caring and sharing between friends, neighbors, church groups, and othersor a part time job through a paid respite caregiving program. Right in the Community offers Respite Care for children and adults with disabilities through two programs. The RITC Respite Home offers weekend respite care in a community respite home every weekend. The home is equipped with automatic smoke and fire alarm systems, is wheelchair accessible and ready to serve individuals with a myriad of disabilities. Special week-long respite opportunities exist during the summer and holiday seasons. Clients are provided with a warm, home-style atmosphere. Those with medical problems can be cared for; special dietary needs can be accommodated; and assistance with physical disabilities is routine. A professional staff, aided by volunteers, is on hand to provide safe, competent, and compassionate care. Client disabilities can range from mild to severe or profound.
